phil Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 (edited) Tom and Janis - another interesting duet Edited May 23, 2007 by Guest
Lucky Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 If You Should Lose Me You've probably never heard of this woman, I didn't know her name.... but I love this song!! Phil, I don't know about that one, but don't we need Tom in the Top ten??
Farin Posted May 24, 2007 Author Report Posted May 24, 2007 how about this one? The Time is Now ~ Moloko
Jenny Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 how about this one? The Time is Now ~ Moloko I like it. It would depend on the competition, but it would definitely be considered.
Dappled Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 Lucky, the Barbara Lynn song is great. I haven't heard her before either.
edna Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 If You Should Lose Me You've probably never heard of this woman, I didn't know her name.... but I love this song!! Phil, I don't know about that one, but don't we need Tom in the Top ten?? I sure like this song, Lucky!!! I never heard it (or her) before... I do like the Tom Jones/Janis Joplin duet...
Dappled Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 Here's a preview of my nominations for next week: The Wreck of Marie Antoinette - Dave Dee, etc. Audio only. A nice tune from 1968 with a catchy melody. Marie Leveau - Dr John and Cyril Neville My favourite Marie Leveau song, but I dig Dr Hook's and Canned Heat's versions as well, though they're not the same songs. Babby Bare did one too, I recall. Unintentionally both tunes has Marie in the song's title.
Lucky Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 I like Marie Leveau, in any version Dappled! The Barbara Lynn song was a big hit for Freddie Fender in the 70's, but this is the original. I've listened to it several times this week. I can't get enough!
Lucky Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 This band hasn't done well previously, but maybe this song?? From The Beginning
phil Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 ^ great tune. I thought that song was in a top ten by now. It should be.
Lucky Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 I most heartedly agree phil! Hard to believe, huh? We'll see how it works out.
Levis Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 7 seconds - Youssou N'Dour and Neneh Cherry The first of my nominations for this week. Now if I could only remember the other one
Farin Posted May 27, 2007 Author Report Posted May 27, 2007 me too I don't understand half of it, but it's great nonetheless
Farin Posted May 27, 2007 Author Report Posted May 27, 2007 7 seconds - Youssou N'Dour and Neneh Cherry fun fact: Neneh Cherry is the half sister of Eagle-Eye Cherry ("Save Tonight") I thought about nominating that one too
Lucky Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 Really? I would've thought that wasn't his real name at all! The connection is easy to make when you see them though. By the way I love "Save Tonight">
Levis Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 Ah? I was wondering what the relation was. they did a song together too. I thought perhaps it was just a nice coincidence. "Long Way Around" it was called.
Farin Posted May 27, 2007 Author Report Posted May 27, 2007 Really? I would've thought that wasn't his real name at all! The connection is easy to make when you see them though. By the way I love "Save Tonight"> his full name is Eagle-Eye Lanoo Cherry and they have another sister (also a singer) called Titiyo Yambalu Felicia Jah or Titiyo for short
Farin Posted May 28, 2007 Author Report Posted May 28, 2007 I already have one nomination (see a few posts above), but I still need a second one... I thought about nominating QotSA, but I can't decide for the song... the choices are: The Lost Art Of Keeping a Secret (definitly NOT an official video ) and Little Sister can anyone help me?
Farin Posted May 28, 2007 Author Report Posted May 28, 2007 (edited) alright! I will do it if you nominate a 90s song! gotta keep my quota there are a lot of Stones and Beatles songs that haven't been nominated yet I wonder if they could have a chance here? hmm... Edited May 28, 2007 by Guest
Lucky Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Hmmm. Ya think? I'll have to listen to those again Martin, but I think I like the first better....
Farin Posted May 28, 2007 Author Report Posted May 28, 2007 I was kidding of course IF Darryl should decide to nominate a 90s song, I certainly WON'T nominate either Beatles, Stones, CCR etc. imo that's like shooting fish in a barrel
edna Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 My next two nominations: "Me and Mrs Jones" - Billy Paul "Love will keep us together" - Captain & Tennille" I´ll keep "I´ve been hurt" - Bill Deal & The Rhondells and "Jolene" - Dolly Parton (youtube with just audio) for another Top ten. Feel free to steal any of my nominations if you feel like it... I´ll find another song soon.
