_Laurie_
Rush - Farewell To Kings Here's a link to the album, if you want to give it a listen...I had this album and played the heck out of it when I was younger...I loved it, but I really don't listen to them much anymore...give it a listen...I also saw them in concert 3 times...they did put on a good show... TheLizard
I don't think Rush has ever released a bad album. If you're into more heavy, progressive rock, start with their 70's stuff. If you're into more accessible, synth-driven material, go with their 80's stuff. 90's and beyond they just kind of experiment with different styles, but it's still all very good. Batman
I think Rush's only good albums were in the 70's, although Moving Pictures is pretty good too.
MindCrime
Signals is my favorite by them. Their best progressive album is probably "Fly By Night".
Foolonthehill
Thanks for the advice! I now own 2112, A Farewell to Kings, Signals and Moving Pictures. I am really enjoying all of them!
galadriel
Don't forget to listen to their epic album Hemispheres. On this album you will find the legendary La Villa Strangiato. A masterpiece where Alex Lifeson shows how to play classical guitar as a virtuose. The whole album (concept album) has only highlights. I think it's their best (after 2112). Mike
If you really want to experience the energy and skill of these musicians (especially Lifeson and Peart). Listen to All the Worlds a stage! Listen to 2112 guitar work and especially Bytor's guitar work. This is a good sample but doesn't do justice to all of "ALL THE WORLDS A STAGE". Give it a try.
