My sister use to listen to these guys all the time...I looked up some videos on YouTube and it shows a blonde hair guy singing all the songs...I remember seeing videos on TV...and I remember the lead singer having dark hair....did they change lead singers?.....I really don't know too much about them, other than what I've read on the websites......So tell me what you think/know... :)

Laurie, I was in love with the LRB. Ahhh, fond memories of the skating rink! You really have made me nostalgic. They had some awesome songs. I have to DL some of them. Night Owls, Lady, Take it Easy on Me. And one of my theme songs..COOL CHANGE. Great tune! Great band!

No recollection of hair color, though.

Lonesome Loser was a good song. One casino I played blackjack in would play that song regularly; pretty funny at the time unless you were, as Neil Young might say, on the losing end. =:P

Wikipedia has a decent report on them including members coming/going, etc.

Laurie girl, I love this band!! Of course I love their big hits, but there are a few songs that got my attention, We Too which is in some ways reminds me of Ambrosia, also You're Driving Me Out of My Mind, and The Other Guy. Check out this ablum, "One Night In Mississippi" a live album and the version of Night Owls is awesome!

I agree with all the opinions here. LRB was a decent band. They were definitely a "singles" band, however. I purchased three or four of their albums, back in the day, and Sleeper/Catcher was the only one I would that was enjoyable all the way through.

There was, however, no denying their ability to pen a great hook and sing superb harmonies.

"Lady" was the first song I ever sang in front of an audience. It was for a high school talent show. lol

The Other Guy and Cool Change were also favorites.

For 8 years I worked at a music company in San Diego, and Wayne Nelson of the LRB worked in the studio for several of those years. He wasn't blonde or dark haired. He was almost bald. He was also the token American in the band.

I remember "Lady" being one of my absolute favorites in high school. So of course I had to ask Wayne about it one day. He said he wasn't with the band when they recorded that one... story of my life.

Wow, great stories you guys...and Sweet Jane I will definitely check that out...I can't remember which album my sister played constantly, I think it might of been Sleeper/Catcher...Thanks to all of you for the info!

Here is the blonde hair guy ( he's a cutie )...I'm guessing it's John Farnham...

Yay, an Aussie band (mostly)!

My parents were fans, so I grew up on them a bit.

They were kinda a mini Aussie supergroup. Glenn Shorrock was in Axiom before LRB and they had a mega hit with 'A Little Ray Of Sunshine' and Beeb Birtles was in Zoot. Graham Goble was also a respected musician, as was their manager Glenn Wheatley (former bassist for the Master's Apprentices).

And as Elvy said, they had a stack of lineup changes, the biggest one being the replacement of Glenn Shorrock with John Farnham, an unknown in the US, but very famous in Oz.

Glenn Shorrock had a massive hit here with a cover of Bobby Darin's 'Dream Lover' in 1979

Laurie, the guy with the blonde hair is John Farnham, who replaced Glenn Shorrock as lead singer. He came into the band around 1982 and left after 1985 for a solo career (Whispering Jack - John Farnham is one of the biggest selling solo artists of all time in Oz)

And I like a lot of their songs, ones already mentioned, and 'Home On A Monday' is also a fave.

Laurie

The Little River Band members had a huge court battle. There are now two versions of the group. One is the current version of the group calling itself Little River Band which true fans refer to as the "Tribute Band". Three of the most significant origional members now go under the name "Birtles Shorrock Goble". You can go to their webpage, http://birtlesshorrockgoble.com/ and read all about the lawsuit. They put out a great live album and video called "Full Circle" a few years ago that made it to the states last year. They also have a myspace page http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=76966232&MyToken=a801d831-b0ab-4942-9750-207b3a272bb1

They have more info on all their websites than I could ever give here. I invite you to check it out.

BSG is currently turing Austalia

LRB had a lot of really great pop songs. From what I understand they were initially supposed to be the Aussie version of the Eagles. Can't say that they were too much alike with the exception of both having really excellent backing vocals, as did a lot of bands in the 70's which became a lost art a few short years later.
