ConniePlake
There was a song ( I thought Paul Anka sang it ) that had the lyrics " Come bring the wine " does anyone know who did sing it or the real name of the song ? I remember it in the early 70's.... Thanks, Connie Plake cplake@cableone.net Edited August 26, 2007 by Guest finally solved!
logan01
"Steel Guitar and a Glass of Wine" - Paul Anka Just give me a steel guitar, a glass of wine And let me drink to a love I thought was mine A love I thought was true to me But now I'm drinkin' to her memory A steel guitar and a glass of wine While my tears they glisten and the candles shine Oh candle-glow, oh candle bright Tell me who she holds tonight And bring me wine And make the music mine Play another set So that I'll forget Mmm, bring me a steel guitar and a glass of wine And let me toast her just one more time Oh candle-glow, before you dim Tell her what a fool she's been And bring me wine Make the music mine Play another set So that I'll forget And bring me a steel guitar and a glass of wine And let me toast her just one more time Oh candle-glow, before you dim Tell her what a fool she's been And one more thing before I go Here's a secret, I still love her so And one more thing before I go Here's a secret, I still love her so And one more thing before I go Here's a secret, I still love her so And one more thing before I go Here's a secret, I still love her so
ConniePlake
Well, Steel Guitars and a Glass of Wine " was not the song, thanks logan but still looking I guess... I know that the melody in the song has those lyrics " Come bring the wine " it was a very slow, sexy song as I remember, if that helps... Suggestions would be appreciated... Earth-Angel
Hi Connie Anything else about the song you remember? Any other lyrics or distinguishing instruments or anything? There is no exact google match for the lyrics "come bring the wine", so any other info would be a great help!
Maverick
Dear Connie, I joined this message-board just to answer your question. It's because I too love this song. They don't make 'em like that anymore... Anyway, 'nuff mush. The song is BRING THE WINE by Paul Anka, and has been sung by him as a solo, and also as a duet with Mireille Mathieu. The lyrics go thusly: BRING THE WINE Bring the wine my lady Bring the wine my love It's the time for loving It's the time In a room where passions flow Making shadows as we go By a candle's steady light In the bed & dead of night And I need you I love you so And I want you You'll never know how I need you I can't let go And I'm on you girl Like the evening sun Sets up on a hill When the day is done, oh baby Oh baby, go gently there You've got a way about you, don't you? You're gonna stay that way now, won't you? Drink the wine my lady Drink the wine my love, It's the time for loving It's the time my love All I say if eyes could speak If every day could be a week If every word of love could be A breath of air, we'd live to see us Together, you and I till forever Until we die, we'll be together Never saying goodbye And I'll fill you girl Like the ocean's roar Rushes in upon an empty shore, oh baby Oh baby, go gently there You've got a way about you, don't you? You're gonna stay that way now, won't you? (Orchestral Break) I need you, I need you so And I want you You'll never know how much I love you I can't let go and I love it I love it so And I need you And I want you you'll never know How much I love you, I can't let go And I love you You've got a way about you, don't you babe? There are minor variations in the lyrics of the solo & the duet (for obvious reasons! :-) ) Anyway, I know that this post is quite old, but hope this helps. Cheers, Shantanu. P.S.: I've been desperately looking for a copy of the song to download off the 'Net (cuz I can't get it here). If you come across a site which has this song do let me know. My e-mail i.d. is tan@fastmail.ca. Ciao.
