Jenny
I don't know what the exact words for those greens are (the lamb's tongue), but I have seen those greens used in what we Americans call Mesclun salad. I call it "leaves and twigs" Edited February 11, 2009 by Guest
Farin
I think that's quite interesting so in America "salad" only refers to a mixture of "greens" (never heard that term before ) and never to a single kind of plant?
MuzikTyme
No. In America, salad refers to any green vegetable as well as a combination of things mixed in. Uncle Joe
Huh? Then lettuce is salad? I beg to differ. Salad: (a)any of various usu. cold dishes: as a: raw greens (as lettuce salad) often combined with other vegetables and toppings and served especially with dressing ( small pieces of food (as pasta, meat, fruit, or vegetables) usually mixed with a dressing (as mayonnaise) or set in gelatin. I respect your differ, Ujoe. I'm encouraged that you respect mine. I come from three generations of farmers so I have a bit of a clue as to what a frickin' salad is. MuzikTyme
Sprite and Buggles (early morning snack before breakfast) Man, I love bugles! I remember when I was growing up I used to put them on my fingertips like false fingernails and eat them that way. Now it seems that most of them are too flat to get on my fingers but they still have that great corn taste and crunch! Oh, I'm currently enjoying an egg McMuffin and a cup of McCoffee.
