Batman
The Thermals are from Portland and they rock out more than any pop band today. check them out.

Batman
Hell yes! Thanks for listening. Honestly, I don't understand how the Thermals aren't one of the most popular bands in America right now.
TheLizard
Well I'd imagine they're not signed to a major label, so they don't get the marketing, award shows, TV event invitations, etc that are available to others. Not that indie bands can't get big, case in point, anything Jack White touches, but it's probably a lot harder. And it's a pity, because that's where all the talent is. blind-fitter
I have an album by the Thermals - "F****** A", it's called. It rocks pretty well, in a not- particularly-hardcore, no frills, no-nonsense punk-rock sort of way. Decent guitar-riffing, pounding drums, slightly overwrought "At The Drive In" style vocals. Quite a short album. Not bad at all. It's on the Sub-Pop label, which may not be a major, but can boast a history of pretty good punk-rock bands on its roster. I've not heard anything they've done since "F****** A"; have they progressed at all?
Red Fish
Those videoes weren't bad. The main singer's voice kinda annoys me, though.
Batman
BF, since "F***** A," their overall sound hasn't changed much, but the sound quality is much cleaner. Some may say they sold out, but I think they have the same anger and intensity they did when they were using bad recording technology.
Batman
OK, so I just saw these guys live last night, and it was amazing, I had no idea it was possible for humans to rock so hard
TheLizard
Do they tour nationally, or just around the Portland area?
blind-fitter
They played my town (Leeds, north of the UK) recently, but I missed them. However, from that I would guess that they must be a pretty hard-working touring band.
Batman
yeah, they go all around the world, but the show I saw was a special Portland show that a local radio station was sponsoring, called "I Saw Them When." Tea for Julie and The Stars Of Track And Field played as well (they're both from Portland).
