Tenacious_Peaches
You Don't Mess With the Zohan - 4/10 Pure horse puckey, but I was betrunken enough that I chortled out loud a time or two.
katie_sane
Quantum Of Solace - 8/10 I'm not a huge James Bond fan, but I enjoyed this movie. I think Daniel Craig makes a good Bond. Australia - 9/10 Probably biased here, but I really liked it. I like anything Baz Lurhman does, I think he's a genius. The historical parts of the movie (The Stolen Generation, the Japanese bombing Darwin in WW2) were fascinating and accurate. Not a big fan of Nicole Kidman but I think she did alright here. Aaaand, I am going to an advance screening of Twilight on Wednesday night , the movie isn't released in Australia until next week.
Jenny
I also saw Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. It was cute. I liked the Penguins and the tough grandma! 8/10 Edited December 1, 2008 by Guest
_Laurie_
Elf..7/10 So silly, but funny...I enjoyed it.
J Hill
The Other Boleyn Girl sometime in Oct. Historically inaccurate, but great, authentic looking, sets and costumes. Top-notch acting throughout. Slow & a little hard to follow at times (but that's not saying much since | don't follow well to begin with ) The beheading scenes are not for the squeamish Overall I'd givit a mild 6.5 ** **this is just a 'thumbs up!' not a trademark
Shawna
My son went with some friends last weekend to see "Four Christmases," and said they laughed their butts off. Which was surprising for some reason... Anyway, my weekend in the cooooold mountains was cancelled, so I'm making andy take me to see that movie instead - and stay awake through it. I'll be back with my report next week.
Farin
Lost in Translation - 9/10 very good film
Shawna
I saw that one, too Farin, and I liked it. But of everyone I've talked to that has seen it, nobody else has liked it, until you. They say it made no sense to them. Which must be why it didn't go anywhere at the threaters.
Farin
that's because when they saw that Bill Murray played lead they expected something like Groundhog Day and it didn't make sense to them? maybe it was lost in translation
MindCrime
I own that movie, because somebody bought for me as a gift. It's still in it's original wrapping.
Uncle Joe
I saw Lost In Translation. It made sense to me. It just stunk. But that's just one opinion. I didn't find either of the main characters engaging. I was disappointed because I expected more from them.
Farin
as you said, it's different for everyone... I found Bill Murray really great
Farin
The Long Kiss Goodnight with Geena Davis and Samuel L Jackson a good (not great) action movie... is sort of becoming a Christmas tradition here... 7/
Mars88
Zack and Miri Make A Porno. It had a few laughs, but overall, not my kind of movie. 6/
Shawna
I saw Zack and Miri (in fact, I saw it with Lucky!) and I laughed myself sick. It was very crude and rude and awful and the end was predictable, but I love movies that cause me to suspend my disbelief in everything naughty and just snort and guffaw until I'm out of breath. Earth-Angel
Mrs Palfry at the Claremont (based on the novel by Elizabeth Taylor) 8/10 Sweet, sad, touching and out of the ordinary. Really loved it and shed a few tears along the way
Shawna
Elizabeth Taylor penned a novel? I was unaware of that.
Lucky
The Women. Most definately a chick flick (there's only 1 male figure throughout the entire film). A pretty fair remake of the 1939 classic. Nothing here for the guys, but a great Sunday afternoon film for us girls. Features a very clever line by Meg Ryan ("what do you think this is, a scene from a 1930's movie?"). 8/
edna
"Thelma and Louise" and "Everyone Says I Love You". I like both of them so from time to time we re-watch some of our dvds (well, "T&L" was on tv actually..)
Farin
The Tramp and the Dictator a documentary Chaplin's film "The Great Dictator" and the context of it's time... also shows how Hollywood in general treated Nazi Germany during the war... quite interesting, 7.5/
Tenacious_Peaches
Horton Hears a Who ft. the voices of Jim Carrey and Steve Carell - 9.5/10 We three Peaches watched this and cackled the entire time, even during the serious parts. I don't know which was funnier, the movie or the sweet little Peachlette laughing her fool head off. Either way, a good time was had by all. Shawna
We finally went and saw "Four Christmases" this weekend. 6/10 totally predictable... kinda squirmy gross... but it had Vince Vaughn and Tim McGraw in it, so it wasn't entirely bad. bluesboy
Tropic Thunder It was ok for the first 1/2 of the movie, but then ran out of ideas for the plot. 4/
