Last night, I saw Coraline; great movie! At first, I was mildly sulky because I wanted to see Confessions of a Shopaholic, but we missed the last showing. Coraline was an excellent movie though, and I was happy to have seen it. 10/10

I still have to get my Hugh Dancy fix though. :D

Taking Chance

Kevin Bacon plays a marine that escorts a body back to their hometown...which was his hometown also...He didn't know him, but felt like he should be the one to bring Chance home..."Chance" was the name of the marine that was killed in Iraq...A very sad movie, kind of boring during some parts, but very interesting to see the way that this whole process was done.... 7/10

Here are recent movies I've seen that I highly recommend.

Changeling...Excellent movie directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Angelina Jolie who was outstanding. It's about a single mother in 1920's LA whose young son is taken. The corrupt, lying and bumbling police botch the case and then try to foist off a different boy as her child 5 months later. I don't want to spoil the movie so I won't say more except that what the police do to her and what happens to children in this movie will make you angry as hell. It's all based on a true story. 8/10.

Body Of Lies...Excellent performances by Leonardo DiCaprio and Russel Crowe in a story about a CIA agent sent to Jordan to work with Jordanian intelligence to infiltrate an underground terrorist organization and to locate its criminal mastermind.

Lots of twists and betrayals very similar to last year's Traitor which starred Don Cheadle (also an excellent movie). Ridley Scott directed this one which I give 8/10.

Everybody Wants To Be Italian-A very delightful Indy comedy. Eight years after the love of his life broke his heart, Jake who is Polish-American (Jay Jablonski) still hasn't gotten over it. Hoping to help him move on, Jay's buddies fix him up on a blind date with a beautiful, hot Italian girl (or is she?)(Cerina Vincent) and teach him to embrace his inner Sicilian. It's directed by Jason Todd Ipson. This romantic case of mistaken ethnicity also stars John Kapelos, John Enos III, Richard Libertini, Dan Cortese and Marisa Petroro. It's not a great movie but it's alot of fun even if you're not Italian. 8/10

Burn After Reading...The Joel and Ethan Coen comedy with a cast of big names didn't disappoint. You've got to see this one, especially if you enjoy John Malkovich and Frances McDormand. Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Tilda Swinton round out the excellent cast. It's funny, fast paced and very well plotted. 8/10

Nights In Rodanthe...Does this guy Sparks ever write happy endings? Great story though and a great date flick. Joann and I watched this on Valentine's evening. Wonderful performances by Diane Lane (who IMO has become one of the top three actresses in the business) and Richard Gere.

8/10 again.

Now maybe I can get to see some of the Oscar nominated movies.

awright, I finally rented "The Notebook." I'm a little behind the times.

Ryan Gosling was adorable. Rachel MacAdams was annoying. The ending was awful. The beginning was boring.

All in all, I think Mr. Gosling was about the only redeeming thing that movie has going for it.

4/10

I just watched "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" because I'm being a lazy pig on my Lazy Pig Sunday.

Cute movie... a little slow for me, but it was entertaining. The acting was good, the plotline was not believable (but I suspended my disbelief, as every movie watcher should - my son doesn't get that yet), so I tried to not let it bug me.

Anyway, the soundtrack was fabulous. I give this movie about 8/10.
