^^ I read books voraciously.

^ Not so much. Partly because I like you. Partly because I'm a big sissy.

> Intriguingly my son hates to read.

V Did your parents instill in you an appreciation for books?

Posted

My mother did

she read to me when I was a child and bought me all the books I wanted for Christmas. In fact, to punish me, she would take away my books. That was more effective than spanking or grounding

Do you ever feel you reveal just too much of yourself?

Posted

^

No, because I don´t.

Or if it seems I do, it´s maybe a 1/1.000 of who I am. I am quite complicated, a bit old and lived a lot so I have much too stories to tell, and I wouldn´t put my whole life in the web... I mean, on the internet, my real life people know me very well.

You think internet is a good way to make friends.

^ Very true.

< Though I do have to admit that before I came to SF and started to make friends I didn't really believe in making friends online... I thought that those who said they do were a bit weird. :P  And Songfacts is also the only place online where I found friends.

v Do you think you've made friends on SF that could last you a lifetime?

Posted

^

I don´t know.

But I know that maybe I´ll meet some SFrs one day and then we could be real life friends...

Don´t you feel you have enough people around you and you don´t need anyone new?

^ I do, to some extent, but I don't want to be stuck with the same old people all my life.

< and when someone or some people become more important, the importance of other people fades, so it's not really more people around then, just different ones...

v Agree?

Posted

I do

Before I lost my job there were people from my job I thought would be in my life for a long time, if not forever. Now, they don't seem as important to me.

Have you lost a friend you thought you would have forever?

Posted

^

Of course...

Some have disappeared, others are dead, others disappointed me or I just lost interest. Nothing is granted. But I still keep many good old ones.

Same question

^ Yes, I can easily relate to Shannon's situation re: work friends. I thought most of them would remain close friends of mine for life. Not so. Many were false friends.

< I learned something valuable from that disappointment.

v Has an old friend recently come back into your life?

Posted

^ No, but I would love it if one or two of them did.

> There's always room in my life and heart for new friends

V Do you wish you could just snap your fingers and take away problems of loved ones?

Posted

^

No.

If I was god I would have made a different world. No room for hate. Hate makes you unhappy, not that it´s bad for others, it´s poison for you. Sometimes hate is a logic reaction and a bit of it could be useful but personally, I try to keep it away from my heart... it makes me bitter.

And you?

^ Yes.

> It's always hard for me to think like a 1969 hippie. I'm too much of a B for that.

V Do you agree with that? (and if you do, peace to you, brother. And smoke a little of this. I'm turning the other cheek.)

Posted

^ True. In fact, I very rarely make a concentrated effort to annoy someone.

> when I've found that I have managed to do so, however, I typically apologize, feel bad, or just call them names until they go away.

V Have you ever called someone a bad name to their face? And if you did, what happened?

Posted

^ Oh, I'm the queen of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time.

> I can't tell you how many times I've said, for example, "Jeez, someone in here stinks BAD like B.O.," right when someone who stinks BAD like B.O. walks by. I can't keep my mouth shut.

V Have you gotten in trouble that way?
