It's been awhile, Laurie. I forget. =:P

Here's what we have so far:

Answer is: This '90s rock band was named after a fugitive seen on TV's America's Most Wanted.

Clues:

> The band is from Los Angeles, CA.

> The Bassist was also the vocalist.

> The name of the group is not the exact name of the fugitive. It is his nickname and last name.

> The first letter of the band's name is from the last half of the alphabet.

> Starts with the letter P.

> It's a two word band name.

> The first word is the fugitive's nickname and the second word is his last name.

> Appeared in an episode of Season 2 of America's Most Wanted TV show.

Another Clue:

> Looking up the highest charting hit for the band Toadies will start you off with the first half of the answer.

That's because it's not the Gabe Dixon Band.

They may have released their first album in 1999 but that doesn't make them a 90's band, they are a 00's band.

The band I'm looking for is a 90's band and their first name starts with the letter 'P'.

Remember that the first name of this band is the nickname of the fugitive.

Also, take a look at a previous clue I gave:

> Looking up the highest charting hit for the band Toadies will start you off with the first half of the answer.

That is correct, Laurie! :happybanana:  :partytime1:

America's Most Wanted: America Fights Back: Season 2, Episode 54

The band's title came from the legendary serial killer James "Possum" Dixon.

One night, while watching America's Most Wanted, the band saw a segment on Dixon.

Guitarist Celso Chavez blurted to Zabrecky that the name sounded good for their fledgling band.

The name stuck.

Their one-hit wonder single, "Watch The Girl Destroy Me", was a top-ten hit on U.S. Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart but only a minor hit on the Mainstream Rock Track chart. It failed to chart on the Hot 100 chart, only reaching #110 there.

You'd have to be a listener of Alternative radio to have heard of the band or this song.
