Uncle Joe
I'm ready to honor the 50's with at least one of my nominations.
OLD 55
And how could you go wrong with a 50s song Joe. It's good to see so many people enthusiastic about nominating "Artists/Groups who've never made our Top Tens before" for #49 ! Then we can go all out with the big guns in #50. If we're still going to make "Stairway To Heaven" an automatic nomination, I'm going to try my hardest to nominate songs to challenge it for #1 ! Not because I don't like the song, I do, but I'd like to see something knock it off. Go the underdog !

TheLizard
I'm all for a top ten with no artists that have already made it. I plan on nominating a song from 2006 and a song from 2004, so maybe I'll get a few more votes this way. Probably won't break the ten, though. OLD 55
Listen Lizard, you've had enough #1s already. Tell you a 2006 song I like - "I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker" - Sandi Thom. Trouble is none of the 'old fogies' would know it. I'm nominating two 70s songs.
Shawna
I resemble that remark. I've got a great '90s tune to nominate this next time, and a great '80s tune. So bring it!
TheLizard
I hate to contradict you sir Darryl, but I believe that #2 is the highest I've ever been.
OLD 55
Shawna, you're not a foge, and I'll bet you do know it. It'd be great to finally get an 80s #1 - hope your nom's a good one. We've had two 1979 songs at #1 that I can remember, London Calling and My Sharona.
OLD 55
Really Lizard ? I thought you had. Maybe it's Seeker I'm thinking of ? Well you could have the ultimate #1 by thinking up a nomination for Top Ten #50 to beat "Stairway To Heaven".
_Laurie_
Beat Stairway to Heaven....No problem, think BADFINGER!....
OLD 55
But Laurie, there's only one of their Big Hits left; Come And Get It !
TheLizard
I'd love to beat Stairway with a Doors song, but that probably won't happen. I'll have to put some thought into #50...
_Laurie_
And that would be it 55!! Edited February 5, 2007 by Guest
OLD 55
It'll certainly be in my Ten, Laurie I agree Lizard, but there's a few great Beatles' and Stones' songs that could topple it. (And lots of other great Artists too !). My favorite Doors' songs all did the rounds before you joined, I think. I nominated Love Her Madly and Riders On The Storm. Hey I make it about 11.30 PM Sunday, U.S. Central Time (if that's what it's called). IF I opened Top Ten #49 in a half hour, would you want to nominate then ? Or are you all off to bed ? TheLizard
Sorry Fitty, I'll be off soon, I'm legally required to go to school tomorrow, so I suppose I should sleep. I'll make nominating my first priority tomorrow afternoon, though.

katie_sane
Stairway To Heaven will most probably suffer a voting backlash. It might not even make the list at all
OLD 55
OK Lizard. And are school days the best days of your life I had two teachers who used to hit first and maybe told you why later. One used to bash Kids on the back, thus his nickname "Basha". I met one of them a few years ago, then a frail old man, but I couldn't really muster any anger towards him then.
Shawna
good times, bad times, you've know I've had my share. High school was the best of times and the worst of times. I kept a journal all through high school and go back and read it occasionally. I truly wish I could go back to that age, but take with me all the life experience, self-confidence, and knowledge that I now have, and live it again. I wouldn't be such a wallflower. OLD 55
Yes, I went to an all boys school, and they were pretty rough on us. I'd have to admit that most of them were OK except those two. They used to get so angry they both probably died of heart attacks/strokes anyway. Of course, I was no Angel.
