Best bands from your hometown

A Washington (not necessarily Seattle, as I didn't live in the city, and nobody comes from little Dupont) list will take a while, but I'll give it a shot. In no specific order:

Jimi Hendrix

Heart

Modest Mouse

Steve Miller (born in Milwaukee, but now lives on the San Juans)

Pearl Jam

Nirvana

Soundgarden

Alice in Chains

The Presidents of the United States of America

Foo Fighters

Yes there's a lot more, but I don't feel like typing a lot right now. I'd include some from my current location, San Antonio, but I don't consider it to be my hometown. I'm from Washington, I'm just misplaced at the moment.

Leeds in the north of England, 5th largest city in the country, seems to have led a fairly sheltered life and until quite recently has never been the centre of attention in the way as towns of similar population /stature, e.g. Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield.

This list is chronological rather than in order of preference:

Gang Of Four

The Mekons

Soft Cell

The Sisters Of Mercy

Red Lorry Yellow Lorry

Chumbawamba

The Wedding Present

The Three Johns

Cud

Nerve Rack

The Kaiser Chiefs

Forward Russia!

Sky Larkin

Rudolf Rocker

Casper Hauser

Those are the ones who spring to mind, anyway.

Leeds used to be considered "Goth capital of the world", so there are probably loads of goth bands I've missed, but I was never particularly interested in that scene myself
