The Seeker
Nice opportunity for plugging one's blog, innit? Pretty accurate what you wrote, though, I think. You misspelled Daltrey.
daslied
I am giddy with anticipation about the inevitable Rockists vs. Spellists "West Side Story" battle.
The Seeker
I'm spelling stuff wrong too often to be a spellist.
daslied
Spellists are surprisingly accepting.

The Seeker
Ah...well what he writes there is nothing new obviously, but true nevertheless. For the most part.
RonJonSurfer
I'd like to add a Bowie moment to this discussion. On July 5, 1973 at The Hammersmith Odeon, Bowie announces, "Of all the shows on the tour, this show will remain with us the longest. Because not only, not only is it the last show of the tour, but, it's the last show that we'll ever do." The band then plays "Rock and Roll Suicide" for the last time. With that Bowie followed Ziggy to perfection "and when the kids had killed the man I had to break up the band". Ziggy Stardust was gone.
Tenacious_Peaches
I am giddy with anticipation about the inevitable Rockists vs. Spellists "West Side Story" battle. That made me giggle so hard that I dribbled a little bit of water on keyboard.
johnnyguitar
Pretty awesome...but, who plays the keyboard parts on these Who clips...same with Baba O-Riley?
daslied
They're probably pre-recorded, which is why Keith would most likely be wearing headphones. That's how they did it live for a while, though at some point they added John Bundrick on keyboards for concerts.
johnnyguitar
Cor Blimey...playing to backing tapes eh? Who'd've thought it...does it count as a live performance then, or is it more like a Paris Hilton performance?
daslied
Just the keyboard was pre-recorded, but everything else was live.
johnnyguitar
Isn't that what they said at Nuremberg?
TheLizard
I believe they had pre-set synthesizers which Townshend would twiddle with before the show. Apparently, every once in a while he would program them wrong, leading to onstage arguments.
The Seeker
Most famously during a performance of Quadrophenia in the seventies---the tapes malfunctioned and sound engineer Bobby Pridden got hit over his head by a guitar as a result.
