Blue Fish
I just had a classic one today and thought it would be nice to share it! One of the sixth form was walking up the hill to the girls houses and they were loaded up with files, their blazer was over thier arm and then it started to rain! they didn't want to put thier files on the wet ground, but they also wanted to put thier blazer on. Then this first former came up with an umbrella and held it over the sixth former all the way up the hill! The first former got soaked but it was really sweet! TheLizard
Would I be showing my Americanosity if I asked what the heck a former is?
The Seeker
In this case, you could also say "someone attending the first form. " (I think the first form is grade 6 in America)
Uncle Joe
Would I be showing my Americanosity if I asked what the heck a former is? Mine is hangin' our there for all to see, too.
Blue Fish
Oh, well instead of year 7, 8, 9 ,10 ect we have first form second form third form and so on up to upper sixth (year 13). Does that clear it up for ya?

Uncle Joe
It clears up what a form is but not why that particular word (term) is used when others might be more clearly understood.

Red Fish
Text looks way more offensive than it actually is. I'm sure Ms. Bluey wrote that with no intended rude tone. You people only have yourself to blame for misinterpreting this poor girl's post! Apologize!
Earth-Angel
If it looks offensive, it can so easily come across as offensive. Be really careful on the internet as people can't see your facial expression or hear your tone. That's what either not posting, carefully reading your post in preview, or smileys/graemlins are for We're nice to each other here Namahage. You've not been here long either, but I'm sure you've noticed it
