:neener:JUST KIDDING! :neener:

I only put that on there to attract attention to this thread, because last time I asked this question, nobody answered it. Sorry for any emotional trauma I may have caused.

So with that aside, heres my question. What is Spanish Castle Magic by Jimi Hendrix about? Here are the lyrics

It's very far away,

It takes about half a day,

To get there, if we travel by my dragonfly

No, it's not in Spain,

But all the same,

You know,

It's a groovy name

And the wind's just right.

Hang on, My Darling,

Hang on if you want to go

You know it's a really groovy place

And it's just a little bit of Spanish Castle Magic.

The clouds are really low,

And they overflow,

With cotton candy

And battle grounds,

Red and brown.

But it's all in your mind,

Don't think your time,

On bad things,

Just float your little mind around.

Look out

Hang on, My Darling, Yeah

Hang on if you want to go

It puts everything else on the shelf

With just a little bit of Spanish Castle Magic

Just a little bit of daydream here and there.

Hang on, My Darling, Yeah

Hang on if you want to go

It puts everything else on the shelf

With just a little bit of Spanish Castle Magic

Just a little bit of daydream here and there.

It seems like its either about daydreaming or acid trips. I;m not sure.

Batman....your subject worked.....I was ready to unload on you!!

Anyway, back to the real question in hand....I believe it is about an acid trip. Alot of acid trip songs, when listened to conjure up visions of what the singer is expressing. In other words, the lyrics are usually abstract and illusionary. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds is probably the best example.

Also, Hendrix refers to it as Spanish Castle "MAGIC". Magic probably means something that is mind altering, hence my conclusion that it is an acid trip.

"Spanish Castle" is a dance hall somewhere in Washington State (I don't recall the city/town) that was a really hopping place back in the 60's. Many musicians from that area played there. Jimi wrote it partly as a homage (to that place) hence the song title.

Jimi Hendrix is one of my favorite guitarists......unfortunately he died young. From what I was told back in the 70's Jimi was heavily into drugs. "Travel by my dragonfly" is an acid trip.

But it's all in your mind,

Don't think your time,

On bad things,

If you think of bad things on an acid trip, you will get as it was called a "bummer.".......a horrible acid trip.

Hope this helped. ::

Wow That Girl....hmmmmm....may I call you Marlo? LOL

Anyway, that was an excellent insight. I missed that line but I do recall friends telling me (never did the stuff) that thinking horrible thoughts would cause a bummer.

TOUCHÉ !!
