The Seeker Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Aw, pity... that would've been a textbook goal had it not been offside.
Farin Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 and again just now how come they're closer to the 2:0 than we are to the draw?
The Seeker Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 This is not your usual squad anyway, is it, for the most part? I mean fair enough, they've got nothing to lose, but I've never heard of half of your players today
Farin Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 yes, that's true since we've made the quali sure with the Russia match, this is the first "preparation" match for South Africa and it's mostly used to filter out the final squad I think 22 or so are allowed to go, and currently we have 30+ players, so there's a lot of experimenting going on
Farin Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 somehow I didn't feel like cheering after that goal :wacky: 1:1
The Seeker Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 (edited) Ah right. And That's more like it edit: I was going to say 'brilliant goal' but decided against it Edited October 14, 2009 by Guest
Farin Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 yeah in a "best goal" compilation it could fit quite well but in the context of the match in general... and it would been hugely embarrassing if we'd lost it, as the commentator said shortly before the end, we've only ever lost two (2) world cup qualification matches... once in 1985 and once in 2001
The Seeker Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Was shaking my head for the first twenty minutes but things are looking a little brighter now. Still Ireland 0:0 Montenegro at HT though And Italy had better win this one or else I'll have to change my mind about Sunday's draw. And I really don't want to.
Farin Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 if they hadn't made that last-minute goal, and if you'd win today you would have ended up with the first place and on further investigation, it's not even 'all' matches, but only the three of Group 2 (Switzerland, Greece, Israel,...) if they just call it 'Live Conference' then I'd expect ALL matches and in the end, it's just the second half of these three matches
The Seeker Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 (edited) A draw (or a loss actually) would've been fine too I think. Anyway... What's happening in Group 2? I see the scores but I don't really keep up with that group Edited October 14, 2009 by Guest
Farin Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Anyway... What's happening in Group 2? I see the scores but I don't really keep up with that group a draw was enough to ensure Switzerland the #1 spot Greece got an embarrassingly 2:1 win over Luxembourg for the #2 spot
The Seeker Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Okay, thanks So... Italy and their last-minute goals, eh?
edna Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 and it would been hugely embarrassing if we'd lost it, as the commentator said shortly before the end, we've only ever lost two (2) world cup qualification matches... once in 1985 and once in 2001 If Argentina doesn't make it I think it will be the first time...
Farin Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 no, I meant losing a match within the qualification and not "not qualifying"
pinkstones Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Hockey is bigger than football in the US? No, I just listed the sports as they came to me.
RonJonSurfer Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 No, I just listed the sports as they came to me. However hockey is bigger than football if Seeker is referring to European football = soccer.
pinkstones Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 Well yeah, watching two people stand in place is more popular than soccer over here. I've heard no mention about our soccer team on the news at all, not even on sports networks. Nobody cares.
Farin Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 just like nobody here cares about American Football, Baseball, Icehockey or Basketball... *sigh* is there any sport we could enjoy together?
pinkstones Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 Probably not. England/Europe has their own sports culture, Asia has their own sports culture, America has their own sports culture....so forth and so on.
MindCrime Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 just like nobody here cares about ... Basketball... The only good white basketball players come from East Europe though.
Lucky Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 And Pau is from Spain. I think he qualifies as good.
