Farin Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 So we didn't quite manage to beat them, but d*mn it, that was one fine performance. We were at the top of our game tonight. these last-minute goals are typically Italian... they did the same with Australia in the 2006 World Cup
The Seeker Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 I know, we could've won, but this is Italy we're talking about and THEY had to keep up with US, not the other way around... and Trapattoni is talking about 'Ireland's painful lesson'. Is he completely delusional now?
edna Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 Now it's Argentina - Uruguay. What a shame...
Farin Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 ^ if they lose to Uruguay AND Equador wins their last match... then they're definitely out on similar news: France and Portugal have to try to get to the World Cup over the Relegation match too
The Seeker Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 On the one hand I think that's pretty funny (especially France), on the other hand I don't want us to have to play them
Farin Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 yeah, but you have to admit... the alternatives all aren't really better countries like Bosnia or Slovenia might sound better - but they can play very well too, so it's going to be a tough match so or so
edna Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 I don't like sports but the patriot in me gets excited when it comes to the World Cup, so if Argentina and France are out, I won't watch the matches and won't care about what team wins.
MarcM Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 ANGELS AND DODGERS BOTH SWEPT.....FREEWAY SERIES IN THE FUTURE?
Farin Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 last world cup qualification matches tonight (at least in Europe and not counting relegation matches)
The Seeker Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 And as usual, I'd like to watch four or five of them at once
Farin Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 our broadcaster is actually doing a conference with all matches probably because Germany vs Finland is a couple hours earlier than most others
The Seeker Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 They don't happen to stream it online, do they?
Farin Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 no, I don't think so and on further investigation, it's not even 'all' matches, but only the three of Group 2 (Switzerland, Greece, Israel,...) if they just call it 'Live Conference' then I'd expect ALL matches
c_s_1987 Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Funny that no one has mentioned that USA secured qualification on Saturday (along with Côte d'Ivoire, Germany, Denmark, Serbia, Italy, Chile and Mexico). Well done.
The Seeker Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 (edited) Americans don't care much about football and the people that do don't care much about America Edited October 14, 2009 by Guest what are grammar?
Farin Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 strange, I didn't hear about that - and I even heard about Côte d'Ivoire where are our American football/soccer fans?
c_s_1987 Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 True. 19 qualifiers decided, 13 to go.
c_s_1987 Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 (edited) Wikipedia has a pretty useful World Cup qualification picture, though it's a bit hard to see the small countries: Here's a larger version Green = Qualified Blue = Could qualify Red/Pink = Won't qualify Purple/Grey = Didn't enter Edited October 14, 2009 by Guest
Farin Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 I've been using this article and similars since the beginning to be up to date... often they're even faster than some news sites
pinkstones Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Funny that no one has mentioned that USA secured qualification on Saturday (along with Côte d'Ivoire, Germany, Denmark, Serbia, Italy, Chile and Mexico). Well done. Nobody cares about soccer, that's why. We have 4 major sports - baseball, hockey, basketball and football. I bet if you polled 100 random people on the street and asked them how our soccer team is doing, the first response you'd get is "We have a soccer team?"
The Seeker Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Hockey is bigger than football in the US?
