The race finishes in northeastern San Diego County (Palomar Mountain), actually several miles (ok, maybe a 35 minute drive) from our place on the coast. It's a huge deal here. It's the first California race Armstrong has participated in in 4 years, so he's apparently a big draw.

They were saying that there were 1.2 million people along the route. That is quite a lot for a sport that is not nearly as big here as it is in Europe. We even have the wack jobs that dress up and run along side the pack. The race is covered on the "Vs" network here. It is broadcast worldwide. This is the 3rd year it has gone through my town and the 2nd time leg 7 has started here.

Holy cow ! The Japanese have just chased Roy Oswalt out of the game with a 5 run 4th inning !?!?

It's 6-2 now , and gonna be tough to get this one back .Started out as a pretty good chess match but has been blown open now.

Pretty nice day. Northern Ireland won, Scotland won, England won, Germany won, and most importantly, Ireland secured a draw against Italy. That's the world champion, in case you forgot. Hopefully that'll do wonders for Ireland's motivation in the runners-up play offs.

And of course San Marino lost 0:10 () and Bolivia are beating the cr*p out of Argentina.
