Today, I tuned in the California Angels at Texas Rangers game at the top of the 8th inning. As the Fox Sports commentators said aloud, "this game is done in Texas." And why not, Texas was leading California by four runs. There was talk about the 33,000 Texas fans getting ready to hoot and holler when the Angels went down. Then things went South at the top of the 9th inning, with back-to-back home runs, cutting Texas' lead to two runs. Base hits, errors, and a failed stolen base saw California win by 11-10! The senior Fox Sports commentator said that he hadn't seen a game like that in 30 years, which reminds me of Michael Martin Murphey's "Still Taking Chances" where the singer is "swingin' for the bleachers in the ninth inning.;)
