TheTallOne
I promised I'd help someone find songs about giving back to the world, something with a theme like "Give a Little Bit." It's for a project about giving aid to Africa, and it can't be corny. Any help is greatly appreciated.

blind-fitter
There is a track on the first Arrested Development album, with the refrain "Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, Teach him how to fish and he'll eat for ever". I think this message relates specifically to the issue of Aid for the developing world. It's a cool track with a great bass-line, if I recall correctly. Probably entitled "Give A Man A Fish"? Ken
Beds Are Burning Midnight Oil Out where the river broke The bloodwood and the desert oak Holden wrecks and boiling diesels Steam in forty five degrees The time has come To say fairs fair To pay the rent To pay our share The time has come A facts a fact It belongs to them Lets give it back How can we dance when our earth is turning? How do we sleep when our beds are burning? Four wheels scare the cockatoos From Kintore East to Yuendemu The Western desert lives and breathes In forty five degrees The time has come A facts a fact It belongs to them Lets give it back How can we dance when our earth is turning? How do we sleep when our beds are burning?
Ken
Arrested Development Mr. Wendel Go ahead, man Here, have a dollar In fact, no, brotherman, here have two Two dollars means a snack for me But it means a big deal to you Be strong, serve God only Know that if you do beautiful heaven awaits That's the poem I wrote for the first time I saw a man with no clothes, no money, no plate Mr. Wendel, that's his name No one ever knew his name cuz he's a no one Never thought twice about spending on an old bum Until I had the chance to really get to know one Now that I know 'em to give him money isn't charity He gives me some knowledge, I buy him some shoes And to think blacks spend all their money on big colleges Still most of you all come out confused Go ahead Mr. Wendel Go ahead Mr. Wendel Mr. Wendel has freedom A free that you and I think is dumb Free to be without the worries of a quick-to-diss society For Mr. Wendel's a bum His only worries are sickness and an occasional harassment By the police and their chase "Uncivilized" we call him but I just saw him Eat off the food we waste Civilization, are we really civilized? Yes or no, who are we to judge? When thousands of innocent men Could be brutally enslaved and killed over a racist grudge Mr. Wendel has tried to warn us about our ways But we don't hear him talk Is it his fault when we've gone too far and we got too far Cuz on him we walk Mr. Wendel - a man, a human in flesh, but not by law I feed you dignity to stand with pride Realize that all in all you stand tall Go ahead, Mr. Wendel Mr. Wendel, yeah Yeah, Mr. Wendel Mr. Wendel, yeah Lord Mr. Wendel Mr. Wendel Mr. Wendel, yeah Lord Mr. Wendel Mr. Wendel, yeah Lord Mr. Wendel
