RonJonSurfer
Michael Stipe Defends 'Cheerless' Thom Yorke "Mr. Thom Yorke is a very happy and very well rounded and very smart person." Singer Michael Stipe defended pal Thom Yorke's cheerless reputation, insisting the Radiohead singer isn't as depressed as the press like to portray him. The R.E.M. frontman is credited with helping Yorke cope with the weight of global stardom and feels he and the star have both come under similar pressures, because of the type of music they play. He says, "Thom in person is not as cheerless as the media like to portray him. We have suffered the same thing for years, just because my band's music leans towards the darker emotions. "I'm happy to report that Mr. Thom Yorke is a very happy and very well rounded and very smart person." Tenacious_Peaches
I knew that Thom and the rest of his bandmates had fantastic senses of humor when they lent their voices to the greatest episode of "South Park" ever, "Scott Tenorman Must Die". They're still whiny and such, but they really are funny.

Batman
It's my favorite as well! Thom: "Hey man, we all have problems, doesn't mean you have to be a little cry-baby about it."
Batman
I think people just think Thom Yorke is a depressive sort of guy because his lyrics with Radiohead are about self-loathing and the fake plastic world he lives in that's deteriorating before his eyes.
