miamisammy29
Is curry not a powder? I've never cooked with it, so I don't know. What is it...mined or something?
Lea
It is usually a powder and used in stuff like beans, or on fish. Didn't know it prevents chafing tho. Next time I'm chafed I might give it a try.
miamisammy29
Oh, I've tasted it before; I've just never SEEN it in its usual form. I'm just baffled as to why Levis would take offense to it's being referred to as "curry powder". Is it redundant to call it "powder", or what? Farin
in the Indian cuisine 'curry' isn't a spice (or a mixture of them), but a dish "only Westeners would get the idea to call some powder 'curry' "
miamisammy29
Ahhh, now I see. Thank you. By the way...what's a "Westerner"?
edna
in the Indian cuisine 'curry' isn't a spice (or a mixture of them), but a dish "only Westeners would get the idea to call some powder 'curry' " That I know... but there's also a powder, a spice that westeners call "curry". Is it called differently in India? Edited February 18, 2010 by Guest

Levis
It's not offense as much as mild annoyance - dern foreigners, Indian food =/= 'curry' ok. Anyhoo, 'curry powder' is something I've only come across in the ol' western world, for some reason all Indian food is supposed to have a gravy and taste the same? edna
We westeners, not Indians, make dishes and sometimes we want them to taste of curry. Sometimes we make some curry -the dish- and others, we use a a specific specie that is called "curry", maybe to make dishes taste of curry... MarcM
Unless you happen to be fond of the actor, then you could refer to him as "a dish." I think he is a little odd looking, myself. Cary on.
