Welcome to The Songfactors' Choice Ultimate Top Ten Round 1.

I'm just making a short introduction to our very Special Top Ten, and then I'll hand over to Chris, who came up with this great idea, to go into things in detail.

To Top Ten #25, we've had 251 songs selected by you (a tie for 10th placing in one) in our Tens. Chris has 'seeded' all 251 of these songs, and the AIM will be to choose the ULTIMATE TOP TEN from them. No nominating required - Chris will explain.

Sound difficult ? It will be, but I'm sure we'll all enjoy it. I'm very enthusiastic about it. WHICH song will we choose as our #1 ? Over to you Chris.

THE SONGFACTORS' CHOICE ULTIMATE TOP TEN - ROUND 1

Darryl, Farin and I have been discussing the rules for the last week, and this is what we have decided on:

- No nominations are required, as the songs have been selected from our 25 top tens.

- Voting rules will be exactly the same as the normal top tens - rank your favourite songs in the list from 1-10, and 10 points will be given to your number 1 song, 9 for number 2 etc.

- We have decided to restrict eligibility to vote to only those people who have nominated or voted in at least one of our Top Tens. We think that's fair !

- We realised it would be ridiculous to expect people to come up with a top ten from all 251 songs, so I have seeded the songs and split them into fair groups.

- This is Group 1 of 5, and this group contains 50 songs. I will then combine the five top tens together to form a group, and then we will vote on these songs to form the Ultimate Top Ten.

My toughest yet! Had trouble getting my list to 19. Then I imagined driving in a car, no cds, only a very good FM radio sound system and was able to get 19 stations. These songs were simultaneously playing - which song do I listen to instead of the one above it, at that instant? Started with the names toward the bottom, moving them up.
