In "America Is Not The World", Morrissey says "In America, The land of the free, they said, And of opportunity, In a just and a truthful way.

But where the president, is never black, female or gay, and until that day, you've got nothing to say to me, to help me believe".

Time to think again, eh, Mozzer?!

U.M.C

(Upper Middle Class)

I wanna be a lawyer

Doctor or professor

A member of the UMC

I want an air conditioner

Cottage on the river

And all the money I can see

I wanna drive a Lincoln

Spend my evenings drinking

The very best burgandy

I want a yacht for sailing

Private eye for tailing

My wife if She's a bit too free

I've been told ever since a boy

that's what one ought to be

A part of the UMC

I want a pool to swim in

Fancy suits to dress in

Some stock in GM and GE

An office in the city

Secretary pretty

Who'll take dictation on my knee

I want a paid vacation

Don't want to have to ration

A thing with anyone but me

And if there's war or famine

Promise I'll examine

The details if they're on TV

I'll pretend to be liberal but I'll still support the GOP,

As part of the UMC

I wanna be a lawyer

Doctor or professor

A member of the UMC

Young Lust ~ Pink Floyd

[Operator:] "Yes, a collect call for Mrs. Floyd from Mr. Floyd.

Will you accept the charges from the United States"

Who makes collect calls anymore?

Same applies for "Some Guys Have All the Luck" by Rod Stewart

I called you collect, you didn't accept, you had nothing to say"

Let's Push Things Forward ~ The Streets

I make bangers not anthems

Leave that to the Artful Dodger

The broad shouldered 51% shareholder

You won't find us on Alta Vista

Cult classic, not bestseller

is altavista even still online? even if, nobody uses it anyway :P

Conway Twitty's "Don't Cry Joni"...

You're just fifteen and I'm twenty two,

Signed with love forever true.

In today's world, that's a felony.

You got Joni's and Conway's lyrics mixed up, MC.

It's Joni that is confessing her love for the older boy and asking him to wait for her.

He tells her that he can't wait for her.

Five years later is when he goes back to find her to tell her that he loves her.

Joni sings:

Jimmy please say you'll wait for me

I'll grow up some day you'll see

Saving all my kisses just for you

Signed with love forever true.

Conway (Jimmy) sings:

Joni, Joni please don't cry

You'll forget me by and by

You're just fifteen and I'm twenty two,

and Joni I just can’t wait for you.

That is a beautiful song by Conway Twitty with Joni Lee from 1975.

For anyone who hasn't heard it, here it is:

"Don't Cry Joni" - Conway Twitty with Joni Lee

ABBA, "The Day Before You Came"

I must have lit my seventh cigarette at half past

two

And at the time I never even noticed I was blue

I must have kept on dragging through the business

of the day

"seventh cigarette at half past two"??

Cigarettes are not trendy anymore... :beatnik:
