Otokichi Posted October 31, 2016 Report Posted October 31, 2016 (edited) And now, live from Der Furore's headquarters, Die Wahlsieg Partei! Have a candy-fired-unreality trip this Halloween Monday. (And then, Get Back To Work, You Sluggards!) Edited November 1, 2016 by Otokichi Ve Must Do It Right Zis Time, Herr Adolf!
Otokichi Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 The Chicago Cubs have snapped The Curse of 1908 in Cleveland today! (No "Wild Thing" dance with Charlie Sheen this year.;)
Carl Posted November 8, 2016 Report Posted November 8, 2016 Is this what they sang with Bill Murray on SNL?
Carl Posted November 14, 2016 Report Posted November 14, 2016 Yes, flash mobs are played out. But this one works because it is very subtle. The singer is Yael Naim, known for her hit "New Soul."
Otokichi Posted February 2, 2017 Report Posted February 2, 2017 An offbeat hit from Australia, with unusual instrumentation about an Outback stockman. The singer-songwriter has had a roller coaster career, which showed up in Youtube comments for this song.
Otokichi Posted February 4, 2017 Report Posted February 4, 2017 There's a restless spirit in the land, as Washington D.C. prepares for Super Bowl Sunday...
edna Posted February 4, 2017 Report Posted February 4, 2017 Hello Just checking if I can log in, but I don't see my name under my picture
Carl Posted February 5, 2017 Report Posted February 5, 2017 Hey Edna. Can you see it now? This is what it looks like on my end.
Otokichi Posted February 8, 2017 Report Posted February 8, 2017 (edited) Obamacare is Dead! Obamacare isn't dead? As Washington D.C. heats up over the "who gets healthcare" debate, here's Cartoons DK with their take on "My Friend The Witch Doctor." Edited February 8, 2017 by Otokichi Got "Voodoo economics"? Send in The Witch Doctor!
Otokichi Posted February 12, 2017 Report Posted February 12, 2017 It's been a blustery, rainy, miserable weekend so far, with power outages and flash flood warnings galore on TV news. I was at YouTube, looking over Photography postings, when I got the urge to remember Paul Simon, Nikon (That's NIH-Kone), and Kodachrome. Suddenly, even the humid, still air of the oncoming night seems less weighty. I wonder if other film companies got their "imaging products" such bouncy, catchy, bright tune?
Carl Posted February 12, 2017 Report Posted February 12, 2017 Was wondering when Blondie would hear all these retro disco hits and say, "Hey, we can do that!"
Otokichi Posted February 15, 2017 Report Posted February 15, 2017 A classic love song for Valentine's Day.;)
Carl Posted February 16, 2017 Report Posted February 16, 2017 That kind of tuxedo is more suited for a grand piano. Somehow it's not the right accessory for that keyboard. Here's the original version of "Shadows of the Night" by a singer who under different circumstances, could have been a star.
Otokichi Posted February 19, 2017 Report Posted February 19, 2017 (edited) Andrew Gold wrote it, Cynthia Fee covered it, and made (minor) TV history.;) Edited February 19, 2017 by Otokichi Got any old friends who can share a slice of cheesecake?
Carl Posted February 22, 2017 Report Posted February 22, 2017 Did you know? Andrew Gold sang the theme song for Mad About You.
Carl Posted March 13, 2017 Report Posted March 13, 2017 They don't make proto-punk songs with a Bo Diddley beat about the year they are released like they used to.
Otokichi Posted March 13, 2017 Report Posted March 13, 2017 (edited) Punk? How about a Punk on the bus with a ghetto blaster playing at 11 who "won't turn down that damn noise"? Uh-oh, "George Kirk" is back from the dead and there be no whales here? Edited March 13, 2017 by Otokichi Say, how would you like to invent "Transparent Aluminum"?
Carl Posted April 19, 2017 Report Posted April 19, 2017 Working on an entry for this one. Fascinating song with a great story, but everything about the video is off. This is one of those where you can tell they knew something was wrong when they were making it, but it was too late to bail. Some very bad choices.
Carl Posted April 25, 2017 Report Posted April 25, 2017 Can you name the game show that made this one famous?
Carl Posted May 17, 2017 Report Posted May 17, 2017 Tuesday Trivia today dealt with The Beach Boys: What group had a US #1 hit in the '60s, none in the '70s, then another in the '80s? They are the answer thanks to "Kokomo" in 1988, but there was another "Kokomo" long before, by The Flamingoes: And then there was a composer who called himself Kokomo, who had this hit. Both came in 1961:
Carl Posted July 27, 2017 Report Posted July 27, 2017 It takes video to truly understand Lee "Scratch" Perry. Got more insight in these four minutes than in any magazine story or book that covered him.
