1. Bernadette -- The Four Tops .. My favorite Tops song. Love the desperation.

2. Heart Full Of Soul -- The Yardbirds

3. White Bird -- It´s A Beautiful Day

4. Friday On My Mind -- The Easybeats

5. Give Up The Funk (Tear The Roof Off The Sucker) -- Parliament .. "Got a real type of thing goin' down, gettin' down. There's a whole lot of rhythm goin' round "

6. Greenback Dollar -- The Kingston Trio .. Never cared much for the schmaltzy striped-shirt-wearing collegiate hootenanny headliners, but this song (written by Hoyt Axton) played over the closing credits of the movie Thank You For Smoking and somehow changed my whole point of view.

7. Down On Me -- Janis Joplin ( Big Brother & The Holding Company )

8. Takin' Care of Business -- Bachman-Turner Overdrive

9. You're No Good -- Linda Ronstadt .. It's really about the music. Backup band is extraordinary.

10.Old Man -- Neil Young

I think voting will be open until friday, so you can take your time... :)

Well, that's Saturday my time, and I'd like to have it finished before then if we can please. Now what "TIME" do we use ? My current time here in Australia is 2.32 PM Thursday 27th, BUT the time I use in all my posts is U.S. Central Time (GMT -0500), so I'm looking at 11.32 PM Wednesday 26th on my screen now.

Finishing on a Thursday (U.S. Central Time) will allow us to have "Special Top Tens" over some weekends also. Farin and I thought perhaps similar to the last one, but songs that polled 10 to 14 in our regular Top Tens (there's 145 of them to TT #20). Sorry, I won't have time to prepare and monitor it this weekend.

STILL TO VOTE:

Kevin, rtstuff, blind-fitter.

Thanks to all who've voted so far.

:)

Is Daydream Believer allowed to be on the Zero to Nine top ten AND this list?

When you take a look at the Zero To Nine Top Ten

you'll know that the first two of this Top Ten get a Wildcard here...

Daydream Believer ~ The Monkees

A Well Respected Man - The Kinks

My most difficult task to this point. Some great songs on this list.

1. Devil With The Blue Dress On...

2. Day Dream Believer.. Another hit from my high school years

3. Oh Pretty Woman You can't go bad with the "Big O".

4. Windy. Another high school hit

5. Summer of '69. A hit about one of my college years

6. Memphis Johnny Rivers is way underrated in my book.

7. Doctor My Eyes Another favorite artist of mine, Jackson Browne.

8. Takin Care of Business. A good hard drivin song.

9. Wooly Bully. Featured in the movie "Full Metal Jacket".

10. Piano Man I had to vote for this one. The new Ms. Billy Joel is a former Biology student of mine. Yes she was and still is a very pretty young lady. I was not invited to the wedding.

A great list rt, even though I didn't vote for all of those. There's not a song on it I don't like.

I agree that Johnny Rivers is one of the most underrated Artists; he takes a song and makes it his own, and he's covered many great songs.

I don't know what Billy Joel's current Wife looks like, but I sure think his 'old' one is a cutie. I love the video clip of "Uptown Girl".

:)

Neither Kevin nor blind-fitter appear to have been around the last day or so, and they may miss voting this time, unfortunately. When Farin logs on in about 7 or 8 hours, I'll ask him to announce the Top Ten.

1. Piano Man - Billy Joel (1973)

Interesting - I didn't think there would be enough Billy Joel fans here for this to get to no.1. I also didn't know the song was that old.

5. Friday on my Mind - The Easybeats (1967)

I think that's the highest any Australian song has got so far. :coolio:

10. Daydream Believer - The Monkees (1967)

I guess adding the songs from the 0-9 top ten was a good idea then.

Piano Man is Billy Joels first #1 and also his first song to be in the Top Ten. He's been nominated 8 times before and his highest position was #24 on list #10 with Only The Good Die Young.

Heartful of soul is a renomination. On list #9 it reached #11. The Yardbirds have had only 2 songs nominated! Who will nominate Happenings Ten Years Time Ago and all the other great songs they did?

Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting, also a renomination, reached #14 on list #7. Elton's had 10 songs nominated so far.

Oh, Pretty Woman I just knew would make the Top Ten. Roy's had only one song nominated before; Crying. I think I'll nominated his Life Fades Away sometime soon, it's awesome.

I Want You (She's So Heavy) is The Beatles 16th song in these lists. It's their 11th to make it into the Top Ten. Let It Be, No Reply, And Your Bird Can Sing didn't make it!

Over the Hills and Far Away is Led Zeppelin's 13th song in these lists. Guess who's got most nominations! They've had only one #1; Black Dog in list #21

And then there's The Monkees! #43 on the very first Top Ten and into the Top Ten now!

I count to 8 renominations this time around.
