My Blessing

Sweet Jane 61

Recommended Posts

I wrote this after my daugther was born. I have been rereading it, looking to see if I need to make changes, make it more perfect. But I wrote this the first week of her little life and it has all my feelings at that time. I am not going to change a thing. This is what I felt then, and still do now and always will.

My Blesssing

I fell in love with your first heartbeat,

as my eyes filled with tears of joy.

Knowing I was blessed with a miracle,

a precious soul I was anxious to meet.

Feeling my body changing as you grew,

my love became stronger with each passing day.

Overwhelmed with emotions and anticipation,

I cherished every moment we went through.

With every kick, the more excited I became

as my little girl grew within my womb.

Already keeping me awake at night

I spent my time searching for your name.

Preparing your room to be just right

buying little clothes, oohing and aahing.

Crocheting a blanket as I sang to you,

imagining you wrapped in it sleeping at night.

Being stubborn like Mama you didn't arrive on time.

Keeping me waiting another two weeks to hold you,

talking to you everyday hoping you would appear,

being impatient waiting to meet precious baby of mine.

My darling daughter you were worth the wait to see.

As I held you that first time, our bond remained.

My love for you filled my heart beyond anything I had known.

You are my blessing, my little angel, my sweet Emily.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I knew I could not change it, I had to let it stay the way it is since it was wrote at such a special time in my life. It will be given to Emily along with so many other sentimental items. My Mom did the same for me and I want to pass on the tradition.
