Shawna
rt... we've been having some pretty severe electrical storms out here, too. It's monsoon season! Your story reminded me... about 10 years ago, before I moved here to Arizona, my sister was living here, and they'd just bought a house. It was around 11 at night and there was a monsoon going on with all the requisite thunder and lightning. Her husband was already in bed, and she was watching TV and suddenly the TV screen went dead and a deafening hum came from it and the stereo speakers. She ran to the kitchen and the appliances were dead (anything that was plugged in) and the telephone was completely fried. She was so scared she just sank to the floor and covered her ears, she didn't know what was going on. Turns out a bolt had hid the transformer down the street. Scary stuff. OLD 55
It looks like our Telephone Co. are correct with the warnings not to use the 'phone when there's a storm, Shawna. I've never taken any notice of it before, but now that I've heard of one actually being stuck I might just be more careful !

Malakin
Apparently I need to re-nominate because too many people did searches for American Pie in the last 24 hours. *big pouty face icon* How about Train Kept A'Rollin by the Yardbirds. If it weren't for this song, Led Zeppelin might never have existed. It's true.

Levis
good choice I think the last time it was nominated, it got on #11. Let's see if we can push it higher... Beyond me, Farin, how you remember the placement of each and every song on the lists. I only remember Bittersweet Symphony's rank because I nominated it (yes, I had to throw that in there )

Malakin
Well, I'll vote tomorrow when I'm less sleepy, but the way it goes, Jimmy Page was putting a band together after the Yardbirds fell apart. He got all four guys together, Page Plant Jones and Bonham, in this tiny little room in a studio, not one of the recording studio rooms, more of a storage room, they say there was barely room to set up Bonzo's drums. And they all looked at Jimmy and said "okay, what do you wanna play?" Jimmy said "Do you guys know Train Kept A Rollin?" and they all played the song, which according to the story, was the best version of it Jimmy had ever heard. Then Page and Plant went back to Page's house and played records for each other, telling each other what kind of "sound" they thought they should have.
