Steel2Velvet
1. I Got A Name - Jim Croce "Like the fool I am and I'll always be/I've got a dream, I've got a dream/They can change their minds but they can't change me" Great lines. 2. Take It To The Limit - The Eagles "You can spend all your time making money/You can spend all your love making time" Beautifully written song by Henley and Frey. 3. No Expectations - The Rolling Stones One of the starkest blue-eyed soul numbers - disdains the emphasis on anything but guitar and vocals, ala Robert Johnson and other early bluesmen. 4. Dream Lover - Bobby Darin So smooth and yet with such urgency, Darin was one of the best at vocal interpretation. 5. Rocket Man - Elton John Love that playful falsetto that Elton can no longer muster. 6. Under The Boardwalk - The Drifters "Oh, when the sun beats down and burns the tar up on the roof..." You can SEE all the elements in this song in each line. 7. Sleepwalk - Santo & Johnny This vote is a nod to my Junior High dance days. Whenever the opening guitar notes were heard, all the guys scrambled to find the girl with whom they had been waiting to slow dance. 8. Tuesday Afternoon - The Moody Blues Because they are the Moody Blues. 9. It's Not Unusual - Tom Jones Distictive and powerful ... what a voice! 10. Since I Don't Have You - The Skyliners One of my first favorite "heartache" songs - before I ever had one.
CanAm
1. One Fine Morning - Lighthouse 2. Rocket Man - Elton John 3. Dream Lover - Bobby Darin 4. Under The Boardwalk - The Drifters 5. Funeral For A Friend (Love Lies Bleeding) - Elton John 6. It's Not Unusual - Tom Jones 7. Rave On - Buddy Holly 8. Build Me Up Buttercup - The Foundations 9. Take It To The Limit - The Eagles 10. Can't Get Enough - Bad Company With honourable mention to Frankenstein, Jailhouse Rock, Volare, I Got A Name & Midnight Train To Georgia.

OLD 55
I had to leave out way too many songs. I need therapy after these votes. Sweet Old Fitty, can you set me up with a good shrink? Your Ten looks pretty sane to me, dear Peaches. After this Top Ten, I think we should start a petition to make "AM Radio Classic Oldies" a mandatory High School/College subject. But I'm biased. I will have a suggestion for the next Top Ten, but I won't put it forward until after we wrap this one up, and I've discussed it with Farin. OLD 55
You did. They must be on FM playlists, are they ? I'm not criticising the songs in yours (or anyone else's Ten). It would be boring if we all liked the same songs. And I'm probably missing out on a lot of great 1990/2000 songs because I don't get them on AM ! I was surprised at the lack of support for Gnarls Barkley's Crazy when it was nominated a few weeks ago. It's one of the few recent songs I really like. Shawna
I'm really surprised that "Don't Change" by INXS hasn't gotten any votes yet (besides mine). It was their first U.S. hit!
Lucky
I love INXS...but these were not my favorites. You got my vote on Jackson Browne, and we're still not going to get him in!

OLD 55
My fellow Australian c s voted for it also Shawna. It was only a moderate Hit here, about a year before they became really popular.
Lucky
If Darryl had to listen to more than 2 songs in a row lasting longer than 3 minutes each he'd keel over....figuratively of course!

Point taken. He would hear about 3 times as many songs as I would though. Maybe more, because an old guy like me might fall asleep during some of those 10 minute songs. That's spooky. OLD 55
Hi Phil. I'll put mine on later today. Just going to have lunch and then I'll be out all afternoon (here). There's 5 songs currently with 50 + Points that should make the Ten. The other 5 positions are "up for grabs"; it's very close again.

bazooka
1. Baby, Scratch My Back - Slim Harpo .. Maybe less well-known than I'd thought. It reached number 16 in US Pop charts in 1966, but was a number one R&B hit. 2. Is She Really Going Out With Him ? - Joe Jackson 3. Build Me Up Buttercup - The Foundations 4. Dream Lover - Bobby Darin 5. Funeral For A Friend (Love Lies Bleeding) - Elton John 6. Subterranean Homesick Blues - Bob Dylan 7. Take The Long Way Home - Supertramp 8. Can't Get Enough - Bad Company 9. You Only Get What You Give - The New Radicals .. Heard this one hit wonder while 'seeking' a radio station traveling on vacation. Really the first time I'd paid much attention. 10.Jailhouse Rock - Elvis Presley

Red Fish
I've started going through YouTube to see what I think of most of these songs. It takes a while, so I'd rather do it in the very early morning than middle of the day. Came up with: 1: Black Dog - Led Zeppelin 2: The Prayer - Andrea Bocelli 3: Jailhouse Rock - Elvis Presley 4: All My Love - Led Zeppelin 5: Build Me Up Buttercup - The Foundations 6: Come To My Window - Melissa Etheridge 7: Helter Skelter - The Beatles 8: Steam - Peter Gabriel 9: Rocket Man - Elton John 10: Take The Long Way Home - Supertramp I'm starting to think I should stop voting for my songs so they'll die a cold, lonely death at the bottom of the list that they deserve.
