Yes, congratulations to Italy. When they played Australia in the earlier round there were mixed feelings here, as there are so many Italo/Australians. The parents were going for Italy and their kids for Australia. I think Soccer will eventually overtake the other 3 "Codes" of football we play here. Anyway, they're not 'real' sports, like Cricket.

I would nominate "Ruby Tuesday" but the Stones have been chosen quite a few times this week.

Tuesday's Gone - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Tuesday Afternoon (Forever) - Moody Blues

Is there a particular "Theme" to this top 10? I'm a bit confused...

Hey Darryl, I got confused by the "Top 20" previous cd listings & thought this was for previous nominations. Thanks for correcting me!

I edited my 2 picks, because I noticed they had been nominated before, on closer look. Thanks

Kenne, it doesn't matter if they've been nominated before - just so long as they didn't make a Top Ten. Funny, a couple have done better second time around. I see that great 50s guitar instrumental Sleepwalk has been re -nominated by daslied. I put it up way back in Top Ten #3, but only das, Joe and I voted for it.

ZEPPELIN Vs. FLOYD FOR #1 THIS TOP TEN ???

However, I think mine will consist mainly of the great 50s songs nominated this time. Gee there's some Classics !

Sleepwalk - Santo & Johnny

Rave On - Buddy Holly

Since I Don't Have You - The Skyliners

Jailhouse Rock - Elvis Presley

Volare - Domenico Modugno

Dream Lover - Bobby Darin

Cry Me A River - Julie London

Check those out, young'uns.

You might have heard Rave On - John Cougar Mellencamp did a cover, and GNR covered Since I Don't Have You. Neither were a patch on the originals unfortunately - even though I like both JCM & GNR.

I was also planning to nominate an obscure Stones song but I'll leave it for some other Top.

You should have nominated Satisfaction edna. Maybe if Keith falls on his head again you can nominate it as a tribute. Or just wait until nature takes it's course; I saw him on TV before and he doesn't look too healthy. They said he's going to play Johnny Depp's father in the next "Pirates" movie - that's probably already been mentioned elsewhere on Songfacts.

doot do, do do do doot do do doot, doot do......hey, heh, hey

Oh, no, "Satisfaction" isn't a fave song of mine, Olfif... :shades: I thought I would nominate "Child of the Moon", "Take it or leave it" or "You better move on" (though it's a cover), these are not so popular and so they wouldn't hijack the first places...

Do you like Glenn Shorrock's cover of 'Dream Lover' Oldfif?? He had a big hit down here with it didn't he?

the stones have done lots of stuff that is alot better than satisfaction

Oh, yes... I don't want to be nasty with our beloved Old55  ;) but probably a 90% of their songs are better than "Satisfaction"... (running/hiding graemlin here)
