The Songfactors' Choice Top Ten # 17

Recommended Posts

I like this top ten also. Marvin Gaye with that great, pure, church voice. Patsy Cline who took an old Willie Nelson song and made it hers. She has that great soulful voice and the production is that clean 60's Nashville sound. Every top ten should include Van Morrison! Though , Jackie DeShannon did not make the top ten, she is a great singer/songwriter. Besides Put A Little Love In Your Heart, she also wrote Bette Davis Eyes and had a hit with Needles And Pins in 1962 She has also co-written songs with Jimmy Page and Randy Newman. I also love the great Delta guitar in Ode To Billie Joe.
