OLD 55
Hi jman. They should be a couple of vote catchers. My youngest daughter was about the biggest GNR fan you could find. I remember getting her "Use Your Illusion" 1 and 2.

OLD 55
Welcome TallOne. Great to have you join us. The Beatles and The Who are both pretty popular with us, usually. This will be another tough one to vote on.

Shawna
I've been diligently making a list so I won't forget what ones I want to nominate when it's time Chevy Van ~ Sammy Johns Because The Night ~ Patti Smith

OLD 55
I have to write them down too Shawna, or else I forget them ! The 'Springsteen' connection: Katie's nominated his best (I think) song, and he co-wrote Because The Night with Patti Smith.
Steel2Velvet
With my 1000th post, I dedicate it to honor Darryl (Old55) for his work - and it IS work - in making this thread run so smoothly and in such a timely manner. Thanks, Darryl. Breathe (2A.M.) - Anna Nalick New song but am profoundly in love with it since the first time I heard it. Find it and listen if you haven't heard it. Doctor, Doctor - Robert Palmer A stylized song by a beautifully stylish man who left far too soon. You're Beautiful - James Blunt Would this have been a better song if you had heard it fewer times? How does that improve it?
c_s_1987
Voodoo Chile(Slight Return)-Jimi Hendrix November Rain-Guns N Roses Arrgh, you got your revenge, you stole both of my nominations! Nah, just kidding, but great songs though. . I seriously doubt that anything will stop me from putting November Rain at No. 1. Also, I assume you mean Voodoo Child (Slight Return), since I don't think Voodoo Chile has the (Slight Return) at the end. My nominations are both songs that are a kind of similar style to The Beatles: Good Times Bad Times - Led Zeppelin The Kids Are Alright - The Who
CanAm
Doctor, Doctor - Robert Palmer A stylized song by a beautifully stylish man who left far too soon. I'm not trying to be a smart aleck, but I believe the title of Palmer's hit was Bad Case Of Loving You. It was written by Moon Martin and I have both his version and Robert Palmer's on CD. I agree wholeheartedly with you Ron about Robert Palmer. He was a great entertainer who died too young. My nominations for this go around are: Long Cool Woman - The Hollies Who'll Stop The Rain - C.C.R.
OLD 55
Robert Palmer was a real smoothie. That song was released as "Bad Case Of Loving You (Doctor,Doctor)" so you're both correct ! I had a very old topic called "Sub-Titled Songs" once, and that was one of them. That's a very kind gesture of yours, which I appreciate so much Steel. Thank you. It's my pleasure to be associated with such nice people as we have here.
OLD 55
Also, I assume you mean Voodoo Child (Slight Return), since I don't think Voodoo Chile has the (Slight Return) at the end. As far as I know, Voodoo'Chile' is the 15 minute version, and Voodoo'Child' (Slight Return) the 9 minute one with the wah-wah riff. No one has ever explained to my satisfaction just what a "slight" return is exactly ! (I'm not being a smarty). I think they're both too long anyway. Look at all the great 50s and 60s Pop Songs I could listen to in that time at two and a half minutes each.

edna
Mine are: "Nedles and Pins"- The Searchers "In excelsis deo- Gloria" - Patti Smith. I see Shawna nominated Patti Smith too... May I still nominate "Gloria"?

OLD 55
Certainly edna. That's the first time we've had a hymn: "Glory To God In The Highest". (My schoolboy Latin). I love "Needles And Pins - Uh". Hey bluesboy. I'll bet you got a kick out of seeing "Boom Boom" make the last Top Ten ?
