It was first released as an instrumental version underthe title of "Happiness is Drumming" on Mickey Hart's album "Diga" with the "Diga Rhythm Band", in 1976. The song premiered at a concert on March 18, 1977 at the Winterland Arena in San Francisco and was performed live 253 times between 1977 and 1995, according wikipedia. edna Posted March 8, 2015 Report Share Posted March 8, 2015 "I Just Want To Make Love To You" Etta James Written by Willie Dixon in 1954 and first recorded by Muddy Waters. Etta James included this song as a track of her debut album in 1961, "At Last!" The song was the B-side for the single "At Last!". It was used for a Coke ad on British TV so it was also a hit in the UK. The Etta James version contains lyrical changes that affect the meaning of the song. For example "I don't want you to make my bed" becomes "I just want to make your bed". Instead of forgoing the traditionally female domestic chores eschewed in the original, the lyrics that Ms. James sings clearly state that she wants to perform all of those duties as well as "make love to you", whereas in the original, the male singer is essentially saying that his lover need not perform any of the traditional domestic duties—love making is all he needs. B-sided by"My Little Friend", it made #1, #4 and #10 in the Canadian Charts. In the US it made #3 on Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks and #16 on U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The single was B-sided by "Rest In peace" and was released in February 1974. It made #16 in the UK charts. The lyrics of the song makes reference to Mott being hounded by "96 decibel freaks," a reference to efforts by British politicians of the time to limit the volume of live musical performances to that level. Great friends with Duff McKagan. They jam regularly & have even written some new stuff together over the past few years. When he wasn't going to attend the induction of Guns N' Roses into the R&RHOF he had Duff print his thanks to his fans, bandmates & the HOF for the honor. Duff quoted this letter in his article in Seattle Weekly. In a sense, Duff is Izzy's social mouthpiece. Izzy has also released a dozen solo albums since "Izzy Stradlin and The Ju Ju Hounds", some of which feature McKagan. The albums weren't brought to the forefront of music promotions due to Izzy's silent nature. I hope that gives you more facts about Izzy! And Duff McKagan too...
