1. Burn Down The Mission - Elton John A rock symphony with dramatic tempo changes that later influenced Billy Joel and members of Queen in their writing.

2. Thank You - Dido My wife and I started telling one another almost every night before going to sleep, "Thank you for my best day," long before we ever heard this song. But then when we heard it, it became "our" song. One of the few pop songs featuring the Brazilian "cuica" (coo-ee-kaw), producing that monkey-like sound played by twisting a fist inside a resonant, hollow piece of wood.

3. Time After Time - Cindy Lauper "If you look, you WILL find it." What a terrific line. Love the male/female harmonizing.

4. Wild World - Cat Stevens So different than anything that had come before it, this song of sage advice sold me on Cat Stevens the first time I heard it.

5. We've Got Tonight - Bob Seger Seger's most emotive lyric IMO

6. Long Train Running - The Doobie Brothers Not only that driving, driving beat but another song with a dynamite line, "Without love, where would you be now?"

7. Never My Love - The Association Not as good as "Cherish" but almost. A real lover's song.

8. Another One Bites The Dust - Queen Love Mercury's barely-on-the-edge voice and that pranging chord guitar work.

9. Sunny - Bobby Hebb Despite the predictable lyrics, the numerous chord changes and Bobby's soul-filled belief in his words make this a winner. Love the crackled voiced "You smiiiiiiled at me ..." near the end

10. Israelites - Desmond Dekker & The Aces A raggae song about a Jewish kibbutz on the West Bank with a standout bass singer featured ... got to be a top ten song!

RT's tough Stuff

1. Sunny. I will get it correct this time, Bobby Hebb. Once again the summer of 66 wins out for me.

2. Never MY Love. I listened to this a lot when I had my first teenage "crush".

3. These Eyes. A great song and voice, Burton Cummings.

4. She Loves You. What can I say. A classic from the best rock group of all times.

5. Time Of The Season. One of my all time favorites

6. Soul Deep. "Love is a river running soul deep". A great line.

7. Do Wah Diddy Diddy. I can still see Bill Muarry and Harold Ramis doing this number as they are marching in the movie "Stripes"

8. Superstition.

9. It Don't Come Easy. Ringo's big hit.

10. Lady. A real good 80"s song.
