That sums it all up rt. If it stops being fun I'm outta here.

My idea of a Topical Ten is for special occasions, Christmas, Halloween, come to mind - NOT separate Charts for different eras. If the majority say to me "that IS what we want" then it happens. Otherwise, we don't fix what isn't broken !

You have my support here

I think you're confusing that. "I'm ahead, I'm the man, I'm the first mammal to wear pants yeah..." are the first words of the song.

My avatar is indeed an album cover ;)

Hi Farin ! Well I knew it had a good film clip. I'm not all that great on song lyrics - my Wife's better than me - but I know the choruses of most.

;)

Come on, tell me the Album Cover, Master Of Suspense !!!

As I mentioned a couple times before, by using data retrieved only by your personal "Top Ten" (this thread here) nominations and votes, I am trying to make a musical compatibitity chart so that you might find which other Songfactor (among those who nominate and vote also) you are most musically related to. It is turning out to be much more complex than I first thought it might be, but I have started to commit time to get it done, and will complete it.

This might be very intriguing or ... it might be nothing at all. However, it will only be accurate if you earnestly nominate and vote for the songs closest to your heart. If your nominations or votes are calculations to "win" a position on the final "Top Ten," you will have skewed data and the resultant compatability chart will reflect that fact.

As CeeCee did on this last cycle, it would be wise to nominate and vote with your eyes closed and hear the music that plays strongest in your heart like a personal anthem of your moods and tastes. That is how to best facilitate locating musical soulmates ... if you would like that. If not, just disregard this message and pick songs you think will win.

That sounds very interesting. I can't wait to see some results :), also you've got my utmost respect, Ron, I can just imagine that there's some serious work included .

On another note, I can't really imagine, that anyone here would nominate or vote songs, they don't like, just because they had a chance of "winning". I, for one, am here, because I like music, that doesn't get much coverage nowadays (be it most of my friends, the media or the clubs I go to). If I wanted to belong to the majority, I could listen to Britney Spears or Slipknot etc.

When I announced, that non of my votes made it to the Top Ten, I did that, because it never happend to me before, so you may call it a random thought. It would never cross my mind to change my votes, so they would match the Top Ten.

none of my votes made it in either! :D First time that happened.

:P

My two nominations, Achy Breaky Heart and Can't Smile Without You polled a total of 5 Points. That would have to be a record low I think ?

You guys/girls just don't like good Country songs and Beautiful ballads.

Thanks Shawna and CeeCee. We've had a really nice Mother's Day here. All of our children - except the one 500 miles away in the mining town - were here + lots of other relatives. My Wife, Val, got a beautiful porcelain figurine (made in Spain Edna), a set of crystal glasses, Sound Of Music DVD and some flowers.

She deserves it.

I think that, should anyone take a look at the songs I nominate, they will note what a lame taste in music I have. I have not yet, however, conformed to nominating songs that I think would make it to the Top Ten, even though it would be less embarrassing.

Here's my '20 Nominations CD'. The title will be -

"DON'T BREAK MY CHAIN Volume 1"

and it will carry this message -(a clever marketing ploy to prey on the superstitious)

WARNING ! IF YOU DON'T BUY THIS CD AND TELL 10 OF YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT IT WITHIN 24 HOURS, SOMETHING AWFUL WILL HAPPEN TO YOU.

Track

1. Love Is The Drug - Roxy Music

2. What A Fool Believes - The Doobie Brothers

3. A Whiter Shade Of Pale - Procol Harum

4. The Wind Cries Mary - Jimi Hendrix

5. Daydream - The Lovin' Spoonful

6. Rikki Don't Lose That Number -Steely Dan

7. Time Is Tight - Booker T & The MGs (Instrumental)

8. You Send Me - Sam Cooke

9. Runaway - Del Shannon

10.Whole Lot Of Shakin' Going On - Jerry Lee Lewis

11.Tears In Heaven - Eric Clapton

12.Drive - The Cars

13.I'd Love You To Want Me - Lobo

14.Sleepwalk - Santo & Johnny (Instrumental)

15.White Room - Cream

16.Make Me Lose Control - Eric Carmen

17.Crimson And Clover - Tommy James And The Shondells

18.Seven Spanish Angels - Wille Nelson & Ray Charles

19.Can't Smile Without You - Barry Manilow

20.Achy Breaky Heart - Billy Ray Cyrus

..................................................

I figure it's worth hanging on until Track 17 or 18 and you can always stop it if you don't like the others. (But who wouldn't like Barry and Billy Ray ?)

Shawna, don't you just hate Emails that say " send this to 10 friends at once + the person who sent it, or else the sky will fall on you" ! I just delete them straight away. I've been doing it ever since we've had the Net and I'm still here.

As I said to CeeCee I don't have a superstitious bone in my body. In fact anything like that, which preys on people's fears, is evil I believe. My eldest daughter always forwards them "just in case". I DO send them back to her to keep her happy, but I don't burden ten other friends with them. There's enough real things to worry about, which doesn't help anything either. Thus endeth today's sermon.

I'll start a new thread for Top Ten #11, probably today (15th). Please hold all new nominations until then, to keep it all together. Farin will most likely have the statistics for Top Ten #10 in the Archives soon. Always great reading !
