So many good ones and only ten picks.

1. Bridge Over Troubled Water S and G at there best.

2. Here Comes The Sun A feel good one from the Beatles

3. Reflections One of the best from a girl super group. Can't help thinking of "China Beach" when I here this one

4. (Sittin' on) The Dock Of The Bay. From a soul master whose life was cut way too short.

5. What's Going On This song on the juke box at Fort Dix New Jersey helped me get through basic training a loooong time ago.

6. Down On The Corner One of my favorite groups CCR

7. Get Together Great song from the flower power era.

8. Peggy Sue From a rock legend whose life also was cut way too short.

9. This Magic Moment. I believe Jay and the Amercians is one of the most underrated groups in rock history. Jay Black, man what a great voice.

10. Jet Airliner. From one of the smoooooth groups of rock; The Steve Miller Band "Some People call me the space cowboy"

Man OLD 55 I sure hated to leave out Elvis' "Suspicous Minds" and Frankie Valli's "Can't Take My Eyes off You."

Well Farin, I couldn't leave out Bridge Over Troubled Water because I think it's the Best Song of the 70s! It also pained me to leave out two Beatles' songs - not because the Beatles have been #1, but I found I liked others on the list better. I did leave out my favorite Kinks' song Waterloo Sunset because it was nominated before and didn't receive much support.

:P

Here's my Ten.

1. Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkel

2. Suspicious Minds - Elvis Presley

3. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John

5. Peggy Sue - Buddy Holly

6. Fox On The Run - Sweet

7. Hit The Road Jack - Ray Charles

8. Let It Be Me - The Everly Brothers

9. Can't Take My Eyes Off You - Frankie Valli

10.Children Of The Revolution - T.Rex

this was really hard!

You've got to be ruthless Rachel. I used to worry about leaving out Great Songs, but now I just slash them.

With respect to all our other Top Tens, I do think there's songs 'competing' here that could have topped some of them. I could easily have picked a Top 40 from these nominations.

Oh Well - Fleetwood Mac (Old School)

Fleetwood Lack ! ;)

(No Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham or Christine McVie).

You'd get on well with my Son-in-law bazooka. He likes the 'old' Peter Green Fleetwood Mac. My Daughter and I josh him about it.

I like a lot of the "newer" Fleetwood Mac as well.

And the interim stuff too, like Bare Trees, that really featured Christine (Perfect) McVie, Danny Kirwan, and Bob Welch.

It's just at age 20, listening to the Then Play On album with my roomates was a daily ritual. Oh Well is not even the best cut on it.

I guess Peter Green has been in and out of institutions and victim of some detrimental "therapy", but the guy can definitely make a guitar do some wondrous things.

All right Darryl. I slashed. Got down to 25. I burned. That took it to 15. I've been sitting here, trying to decide, and finally left out all thought, just closed my eyes and heard the songs. These 10 songs are by feelings alone...

1. Goodbye Stranger ~ Supertramp

2. Blackbird ~ The Beatles

3. (Sittin On) The Dock Of The Bay ~ Otis Redding

4. Can't Take My Eyes Off You ~ Frankie Valli

5. This Magic Moment ~ Jay and the Americans

6. Jet Airliner ~ Steve Miller

7. Stay With Me ~ The Faces

8. Ain't Even Done With The Night ~ John Mellencamp

9. Will It Go Round In Circles ~ Billy Preston

10. Down On The Corner ~ Creedence Clearwater Revival

No, I like them too bazooka. Poor Peter Green was the driving force behind the original Fleetwood Mac, which was of course a Blues band. I love the haunting instrumental "Albatross", their first major Pop success.

My Son-in-law just won't have anything to do with the later lineup, that's why we tease him and made up the name "Fleetwood Lack".

1. Girl From Ipanema - Stan Getz/Astrud Gilberto What can I say, I'm in love with Brazil and this song IS Brazil. People here actually move like this song sounds.

2. Let It Be Me - The Everly Brothers Felice and Boudreaux Bryant's consumate love song. If you younger people on Songfacts are not familiar with this song, you should give it a listen. When Don sings "Each time we meet love, I find complete love. Without your sweet love; what would life be?" you believe him.

3. Here Comes The Sun - The Beatles This song and "Something" are the best for George while with the Beatles.

4. Blackbird - The Beatles Paul on lead guitar ... just a perfect song.

5. Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkel Pure poetry. Interestingly, lost in the phrasing and the lovely melody is the fact that there are no rhyming lines in this song.

6. Mama Told Me (Not To Come) - Three Dog Night Randy Newman wrote this wonderfully visual song that has some of the best soulful sounds put down by this group.

7. Broken Wings - Mr. Mister Hollies caliber harmonies highlight this beautifully written song.

8. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John So revealing of the early years for John and Bernie Taupin, "Mongrels, who ain't got a dime, playin' for tippers like you." Today they have few dimes.

9. Only The Good Die Young - Billy Joel Some of the best lines every written by Joel in this piece.

10, Everybody's Talkin' - Nilsson
