invisible_r
wasn't really sure where to post this, anyway, a friend of mine sent me this album, which is a tribute to serge gainsbourg, translated into english, by various new artists. some are really good, "i love you" is was a bit disturbing to me as it was the only track I recognised! here's the track list: 1. A Song For Sorry Angel (Franz Ferdinand & Jane Birkin) 2. I Love You (Me Either) (Cat Power & Karen Elson) 3. I Just Came To Tell You That I'm Going (Jarvis Cocker & Kid Loco) 4. Anna (Portishead) 5. Requiem For A Jerk (Faultline, Brian Molko & Francoise Hardy) 6. L'Hôtel (Michael Stipe) 7. Goodbye Emmanuelle (Tricky) 8. Lola R. For Ever (Marianne Faithful & Sly and Robbie) 9. Boomerang 2005 (Gonzales, Feist & Dani) 10. Boy Toy (Marc Almond & Trash Palace) 11. The Ballad of Melody Nelson (Placebo) 12. Just A Man With A Job (Just A Man With A Job) 13. I Call It Art 14. Those Little Things (Carla Bruni)
edna
Serge Gainsbourg is a genius. A real poet. He should be a member of L´Académie Française... I just love him. I will buy this cd, I am very curious about it. Thanks, Rachel! Just in case someone wants to know about Gainsbourg...

Farin
I don't know much songs of Gainsbourg (only "Je t'aime ... moi non plus" and "Aux Armes et caetera" come to mind), but I think he was/is a very interesting person. I will definitly check out this album, if only because of the musicians playing (Franz Ferdinand, Jarvis Cocker, Michael Stipe and I love Gonzales). Thanks for pointing it out, Rachel Edit: Here you can listen to the songs. And read about the album Edited April 26, 2006 by Guest Added URL
edna
I don't know much songs of Gainsbourg (only "Je t'aime ... moi non plus" and "Aux Armes et caetera" come to mind) These are the worst of his songs but the ones that made him very well-known... "L´accordéon", "Comic Strip"... well, I could list so many good ones... Thanks for the link, Farin!
