OLD 55
To make the voting easier for myself I've decided to limit my votes to Oldies, R&B, Classic Rock/Pop. It's still tough and I feel I'm being unfair but hey, that's the way it goes. Thanks Joe for your frank comments. Jman nominated "Rite Of Spring" and being the gentleman he is, he was kind enough to check with me first. I said "Sure ! Go ahead." I've had some PTs regarding this. Here's a few lines from one: ...most people are likely unfamiliar with many classical selections and we may run into names influencing votes again ( Beatles, Stones, Beethoven, Mozart, etc.) and may begin to get us some pretty odd top tens. I don't want to offend anybody, but in hindsight I agree with this. I don't wish to be arbitrary about it, but starting with the next lot of nominations we'll make the time frame from 1950 to the present, and 'Rock/Pop', very broad genres which cover just about anything. I apologise to jman and any other classical music lovers. If "Rite Of Spring" does get voted into this Top Ten that's fine! Bach's "Sleepers Awake" may get there too in the form of "A Whiter Shade Of Pale" by Procol Harum (whose name I've been misspelling). AND the buck stops with me, not anyone who sent PTs. But I'll say it again - it's OUR Top Ten, and the fewer rules the better. ....when we called out for another drink the waiter brought a tray
Steel2Velvet
... it's OURS ..... and the fewer rules the better. That's what Thomas Jefferson said.
OLD 55
I didn't realise I was in such elite company, Steel. If he said it, that's good enough for me. He was an honest man.

OLD 55
You're alright rt ! There's still a half dozen of us (including me) to vote. I'm finding this one the most difficult yet also. I reckon I've got my Top 5 sorted, but then I have another dozen to go into the rest. I started with 22 "probables". We're not alone though. Of the 23 people who've voted so far, there's been 21 different #1s and the rest of the votes are spread everywhere !
Steel2Velvet
That's what Thomas Jefferson said. I didn't realise I was in such elite company, Steel. If he said it, that's good enough for me. He was an honest man. Yeah, but the "it" Jefferson was referring to ain't "ours" anymore and there's a WHOLE BUNCH of rules! I think we'll do a lot better with your idea, Fitty, than the politicians did with Jefferson's.

OLD 55
This gets tougher every time. You want to put 15 to 20 songs up, but need to get down to 10. Can't wait to see the final Top 10!! I think most of us agree that this is the toughest yet. I'm compiling the points now and you just couldn't pick the Top Ten OR what will be #1. I'm really surprised at some that look like missing out, but as you said it's hard to get down to 10 ! Three people still to vote: Peaches Animal Old55 :guitar:

Tenacious_Peaches
Here you go, Old Fitty. I am having a moral struggle with the placement of 1 and 2. I'm sure I'll regret it as soon as I make this final. And I would like to formally apologize to the Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield and Mr. Carlos Santana for having to cut them from my list. 1] I Wish - Stevie Wonder 2] Ain't Too Proud to Beg - The Temptations 3] A Song for You - Donny Hathaway 4] Blue on Black - Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band 5] Fallin' - Alicia Keys 6] I Feel The Earth Move - Carole King 7] Piece Of My Heart - Janis Joplin (Big Brother & The Holding Company) 8] Happy Together - The Turtles 9] In the Midnight Hour - Wilson Pickett 10] She's So Cold - The Rolling Stones

OLD 55
I diddled The Who for 9 points on Behind Blue Eyes. I only wrote 1 instead of 10 for Malakin's vote. Sorry Mate ! Animal's voted ! I suppose you all want to deprive me of my sleep and know the Top Ten ? Give me 15 minutes. My Wife reckons whatever time I say, double it. Edited May 3, 2006 by Guest AT LAST !
