bazooka
1. Loan Me A Dime - Boz Scaggs. Too obscure? At 12+ minutes long, it won't pop up on the radio much. Duane Allman on guitar. 2. Domino - Van Morrison. Love the horns. Van looks to be A-OK by Songfactors -- frequently nominated. 3. Hold Your Head Up - Argent. This one's not so radio-friendly, either -- six minutes long with a three minute organ solo -- a fantastic organ solo. 4. Hypnotized - Fleetwood Mac. Great spooky tune from Fleetwood Mac's transitional period. 5. Can't Find My Way Home - Blind Faith. I'm a sucker for all things involving Stevie Winwood. 6. Valerie - The Monkees. Ahead of the Stones? I can't help it. This song is just so damned 'catchy' -- Monkees' finest moment. 7. Paint It Black - The Rolling Stones. The Stones need a special category. This is just one of the best songs ever. From a creative heyday, before Brian Jones went under. 8. Spirit In The Night - Bruce Springsteen. The nominations are Springsteen-saturated this time, and I have mixed feelings about The Boss, but this always gets my attention. 9. 25 Or 6 To 4 - Chicago. This number has grown on me in the last 35 or 6 years. 10.I'm Sorry - Brenda Lee. I feel like I should say "I'm Sorry" -- this was my own nomination, and do love Brenda, but the top-notch competition pushed the little girl with the big voice to the bottom of my list.
