The Original Songfactors' Choice Top Ten Lists 1 to 9

Recommended Posts

Fat Bottomed Girls-Queen

Tainted Love-Soft Cell

C'mon if someone is allowed to nominate Every Rose Has Its Thorn, I should be allowed to nominate those two. :P

Good songs jman !

I like Every Rose Has It's Thorn too. Just couldn't squeeze it into my last Top Ten.

Tainted Love is the consumate 80s Pop Song, and just about anything by Queen is good.

:)

Songfacts (please tell me if these are incorrect):

Hush - Deep Purple

'Hush' is a cover of a song by Joe South. Released in 1968 to huge success in the US (but not the UK)

Track taken from their acclaimed debut album 'Shades Of Deep Purple', released in September 1968.

The album reached #24 on the Billboard Album Chart in the US.

On the strength of this album, Deep Purple were booked to support Cream on their 'Goodbye' tour but were kicked off the tour for alledgedly upstaging the main act.

Wouldn't It Be Nice - The Beach Boys

Brian Wilson descibed this song as: "what children everywhere go through... wouldn't it be nice if we were older, or could run away and get married".

Brian Wilson: "Listen for the rockin' accordions and the ethereal guitars in the introduction. Tony and I had visualized a scene. We had a feeling in our hearts, like a vibration. We put it into music, and it found its way onto tape. We really felt good about that record."

Featured in advertisements in Australia - One for Cadbury's chocolate (wouldn't it be nice if the world was Cadbury's) and one for the Lottery (wouldn't it be nice to win a million).

Originally the B-side of 'God Only Knows', it became a single and top ten hit in its own right.

To Love Somebody - The Bee Gees

Written by Barry Gibb and Robin Gibb.

Australian Charts: #6

Single from the album 'Bee Gees 1st' released 14th July 1967.

Album peaked at #7 on Billboard Album Chart (US).

Covered most notably by The Flying Burrito Brothers, Janis Joplin, Nina Simone, The Animals and Tom Jones.

ok Darryl. Since my original 2 thoughts for nominations are already here, and different songs by some of the same bands are here, I had to go back to my lista. Two totally different directions:

Faries Wear Boots ~ Black Sabbath

Sister Christian ~ America///disregard this Darryl...It was 5:30, I was sleeping!

Sister Christian is by Night Ranger. America's song with Sister in the title is Sister Golden Hair. I sincerely hope you mean Sister Golden Hair. ;)

Good Lord excuse my sleep clouded little mind!

America was the band. (one of my methods) Sister Golden Hair should have been the song! So...

Faries Wear Boots ~ Black Sabbath

Sister Golden Hair ~ America

Two totally different directions indeed!

Well that's totally messed up my Top Ten. :)

Too many good nominations again ! This will be very tough. I'll have to bump a few good songs that I'd normally include.

We're headed to the beach for the day, so I'll leave nominations open for about another 11 or 12 hours.

:headphones:

Thanks Katie for the songs information.
