Well we have 10 Top Tens in already - 15 to go. :coolio:

Brad sent me an interesting message on (The) Sweet.

"I noticed that you put 'the' in front of 'Sweet' ?

Are they known as 'The Sweet' overseas?

Here in the U.S. they are known as just Sweet. Michael Tucker and Brian Connolly first formed Sweetshop, which they later shortened to just Sweet.

All of their original albums on RCA records and Polydor records in the U.S. were released as Sweet.

A few compilation albums put out by other labels in later years released them as 'The Sweet' on import albums."

Many of you would probably say "who cares?", but Brad and I are kindred souls, and he's quite correct. Sweet, shortened from Sweetshop it should be - but we've always called them The Sweet here in Australia.

It's funny how some Artists and Songs get name changes in different countries. I thought of that when "Nicknameless" nominated Sky High - Jigsaw, a U.K. release originally.

We already had an Australian Band called Jigsaw, so the single was released here as by "British Jigsaw".

JUST to complicate it further (if you're still reading this) the song was used over the opening credits of a 1975 movie titled in the U.K. and Australia "The Man From Hong Kong". In the U.S. it was retitled "The Dragon Flies".

I've gotta get a life.

I just looked at your #10 song, "Don't Bring Me Down". I don't know the Bad Company one? Katie nominated the E.L.O. song (Grooos or whatever they sing).

you are quite correct, 55. I'm a dork. ELO's version it is.

No Shawna - you haven't told me about that. :)

okay, so I'll name drop and give you the story.

Waaaaaaaay back when I was 21, my friend and I went to a bar. We got ourselves a table and I eventually got up to use the restroom. When I got back, there were three or four men sitting at the table with my friend. They were all very slovenly looking, and not at all attractive. I sat back down and was introduced to these men, who proceeded to buy us drinks the rest of the evening. They were really very nice guys, interesting and fun. A little later in the evening, one of them tried to get my friend and I out to his car to... partake in an illegal substance. We both declined. They eventually left.

The next morning we read in the paper where the Elvin Bishop show was cancelled that night because Mr. Bishop was in jail after having been caught doing cocaine in his car in the parking lot of the very bar we had been at. Naturally, the accompanying photo was of the man at our table from the night before. Surprise, surprise. He had given us a false name.
