Steel2Velvet
Heard the Beatles song Let It Be today on the car radio. Reminded me of a great 8-part radio series by National Public Radio (NPR) on the making of the movie and album. That series is accessible here on the internet. It came out in the series that John plays bass on the song I heard today (Paul is on piano.) So while listening, I paid particular attention to the bass. I could tell it was a Paul arrangement, but lacked the light and accurate bass work we normally associate with Beatles music. I thought it interesting that, though an accomplished musician/composor who mastered many instruments himself, John could not handle a bass as well as he could piano, guitar or even harmonica. In Let It Be the bass sounds sloppy and lumbering.
