Guys I need some help with titles that would have been in the top 40 for November of 1970. This is for some research I am doing for possible use in the movie about the Marshall air tragedy.

Thanks for any help.

"There was a demon that lived out in the thin air. They said whoever would challenge it would certainly die. They said it was like a farm you could buy in the sky. They said it was like a brick wall that if you tried to go through it, it would rip off your ears. They called this barrier the "Sound Barrier". The movie "The Right Stuff".

I hope everyone doesn't mind me asking, but:

Where did these lists come from?

Those lists are way off.

At first glance, I noticed a few incorrect songs, so I spent some time checking out the others.

I'm taking for granted that RT is looking for songs from the U.S. Billboard Top 40 charts, since he is from the U.S.

With that in mind:

Edna,

"My Sweet Lord" didn't enter the U.S. Top 40 chart until 12/05/70.

All the other songs in that list were in and out of the Top 40 before Nov. 1970.

Jane,

Almost every song in that list was either in and out of the Top 40 before Nov. 1970 or never entered the Top 40 chart.

The only ones I saw that were actually in the Top 40 in Nov. 1970 were:

#7,23,31,32,35,37.

and also the following, with corrections to either the artist or title:

#8 is the correct artist, but their song that was in the Top 40 in Nov. was "Yellow River".

#15 is the correct song but the artist is Bobby Sherman.

#39 is the correct song but the artist is Bobby Bloom.

RonJon,

Your list checked out ok.

Again, just trying to get RT the correct info.

Don't crucify me for being a double-checker, please.

Thank you. :)

I said I wasn´t sure but I remembered them as songs I heard by the end of that year. Mistake: the two I had for sure weren´t on Billboard. My info was coming from Rolling Stone Magazine though...

Don't crucify me for being a double-checker, please.

Thank you. :)

You remind me of a school teacher, Brad...

But Brad does know what he's talking about. ;)

Some of those Charts are regionalised ones. RT could you please indicate whether you want the National U.S. Charts please (Billboard, as Brad said).

The air disaster occurred on 14 November 1970.

I have a copies of the Billboard Hot 100 Charts for the weeks ending 7, 14, 21 and 28 November. If you want me to scan any and send it/ them to you by Email as an attachment please let me know.

I won't put them on here in case I breach any copyright.

:P

Thanks to everyone for all of your information. There is really great stuff here. I will be making a list of what I think would go good in the movie production. This film is going to be a drama of the highest order. I am sure there will be many gut wrenching scenes. I have been told that an early reading of one scene ripped the heart out of those involved.

I am really looking forward to this movie. It will be bitter sweet to say the least. It will be tough to watch in certain parts I am sure. I pray that the good Lord lets me live long enough to see it.

By the way OLD 55 feel free to e-mail your Hot 100 for the weeks that you have mentioned in your post.

Again thanks to all of you. You guys and gals are the BEST!!!

I was trying to find a site with Top 40's for either Charleston or Huntington that I lost when I cleaned out my computer. I Googled for it and found that site on the third page of results.

Sadly, no 1970 charts for Charleston or Huntington could be found…

I also found a site devoted to a well-known Charleston station, but the charts were for December, 1970…

Crazy Don, I heard that the movie people actually got a tape from Huntington station WKEE FM 100.5 during 1970, but they didn't say what month.

They actually got part of the broadcast of DJ Jack O'Shea the "Flying Dutchman" Man I grew up with that guy.
