...the original question seems to seek something different; a word which means "a prediction for the future which never came to fruition". So what does that have to do with "anachronism"? Nothing much...unless one is currently watching a film, made in the past but set in what is now the present and features inventions that don't currently exist (yet). For example, watching 2000AD for an idea of how those in the past perceived our current lives would be.

Actually I still think this scenario is covered by your explanation of 6 days ago....

I suggest we call this an 'Otokichism'.

none of the words you suggested exist.

erratichronism would not be valid because erratic is not greek.

wrecklessly combining Latin and Greek components.

No word exists until it is coined.

"I will coin no word before its time" ~ Lexie Khan.

You word-nerds must know that Latin-Greek combos

be happenin all the time.

Triceratops

Genocide

Hexadecimal

Heterosexual

Television

Sociology

Hyperactive

The closest I could come up with was "protoptimistic" to describe a missed prediction of the future.
