To me, a classic song is one that sounds as original and vibrant today as it did when it was first recorded.

IMO, the following songs are rock/pop classics:

Night Moves - Bob Seger

Heart Of Gold - Neil Young

In My Life - The Beatles

Wild Horses - The Stones

Sultans Of Swing - Dire Straits

Rhiannon - Fleetwood Mac

Daniel - Elton John

Cherry Bomb - John Mellencamp

These are just a few of the literally hundreds of songs I could name.

No matter how many times I listen to this song...I will never, ever get tired of that great guitar solo...definitely a classic NH!

Absolutely agree! Last time I heard it was in Covent Garden at about 4am being played by a busker in a suit - it was absolutely fantastic! A timeless and classic song indeed.

Another great one for me is Sultans of Swing - the solo is brilliant!

The song was written by Van Morrison.

It was released in 1965 by the group "Them", when Van Morrison was their vocalist.

He was with the band from 1964 to 1966.

The version you prolly remember and heard the most is Van's live recording of the song on his 1974 live release, "It's Too Late To Stop Now".

Can't Get It Out of My head ~ ELO

This is from the Eldorado album and a beatutiful ballad. Jeff Lynne's vocals are outstanding on this tune and the strings throughout just make the song over the top. Very moving lyrics. It was the first song to make it as a hit in the states for ELO, making it to number 9 in 1975. I will never get tired of this song.
