phil
You know when actors, sports figures, etc. try to become rock stars and make terrible music. My all time worst is Eddie Murphy with " Party All The Time" What is yours?
Shawna
how about that awful one by Don Johnson? It was so awful I don't even remember the name... And "Don't Give Up On Us Baby" by David Soul (Starsky & Hutch)
DrCowbell
Don't Give Up On Us Baby was always played on a cassette while I was getting a facial. Maybe they found it soothing. I don't find it *so* bad but do think it is relatively cheesy. All I can think of when I hear that song is Owen Wilson strumming that song out and Ben Stiller high on some special brownies anyways. How about anything by Jennifer Love Hewitt? Edited February 6, 2006 by Guest
daslied
Patrick Swayze - She's Like The Wind Awful song, awful lyrics, awful general idea. Shawna - "Heartbeat" is the one you're looking for. Don't forget that Sonny Crockett also did a duet with Barbra Streisand. Oh, and Ricardo Tubbs also put out an album. phil
The other day I saw Hasselhoff in a music video, doing the "hooked On A Feeling" version that Blue Swede did in the 70's. It was one of the worst things I have ever witnessed, and I've seen some Tom Green movies!
phil
HD, I don't know. The whole thing was very strange. It was like a Fellini movie that had a $316 budget.
edna
HD, I don't know. The whole thing was very strange. It was like a Fellini movie that had a $316 budget. Maybe I´m lucky to have a mac, I tried to watch the Hasselhoff video Earth-Angel posted in another thread and my computer goes "pop"... I´d try on my husband´s PC but he has no anti-virus these days so I guess it wouldn´t be worth it to get some crap just to see DH...
phil
No save your money. Just google in David Hasselhoff. There are many fuuny sights.
OLD 55
I actually like Dont Give Up On Us Baby. Me too HD, and lots of others obviously, because it was #1 in many countries (including the U.S.). I remember not thinking too much of it at first, but it sort of sneaks up on you. David Soul was a singer (not very successful) turned actor.
NewYorkMets9
Didn't Rodney Dangerfield make a record? How could I forget the 1986 Mets? http://members.aol.com/WernerVWallenrod/fun/mets.jpg Edited February 7, 2006 by Guest
OLD 55
You're right NYM. "Rappin' Rodney" in 1983. Sporting Teams making records after a big win are my pet dislike. We've had a few in Australia, but the English take the prize with many of their Soccer Clubs doing so. The fans buy them though !
phil
Old 55, I agree, the champion Chicago Bears team had this horrible "rap" song and video in the 1980's. It was a 10 on the cringe meter.
Jenny
I recently heard something by Minnie Driver. It wasn't horrible, but since the name escapes me, it obviously didn't blow me away.
Foxy
It might have been 'Everything I've Got In My Pocket', Jenny. Not a bad song...
blind-fitter
Me too HD, and lots of others obviously, because it was #1 in many countries (including the U.S.). I remember not thinking too much of it at first, but it sort of sneaks up on you. David Soul was a singer (not very successful) turned actor. I have an album of his... I'd have to say I prefer "Silver Lady" to "Don't Give Up On Us": greater sense of pathos and melodrama in the lyrics... "Tired of drifting, searching, shifting from town to town...etc." Great stuff..."Cheese-tastic!" , as Foxy would have it. But surely this thread is about non-singers making bad records? One of the worst has to be William Shatner...has anybody heard his versions of 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds' and 'Hey, Mr Tambourine Man'? Diabolism of Durannic proportions..but so funny I nearly pappered me trolleys.... (I think his album "The Transformed Man" may still be available. Worth checking out for the curiosity value...) edna
Hey, "Silver Lady" wasn´t that bad... actually, I almost like it. More than anything by Phil Collins. Why do I hate so much "Walking on sunshine"???
phil
Blind-Fitter , I'm with you on William Shatner and Lucy In The Sky, absolutely hysterical. The only actor who can over act on vinyl! Also didn't Bruce Willis do Respect Yourself?

Otokichi
Urban Legend alert! A well-known R&B singer was listening to Rappers do their thing and wondered aloud if she should do Rap. The Rappers stopped in their tracks and told her not to, explaining: "We do Rap because we can't sing!" Remembering "Spartacus," The Blues, and Iambic Pentameter, I guess Rap is on par with Jazz Scat singers. So, are Rappers non-singers, too?
OLD 55
Hi B-F. I have "Silver Lady" too ! It's a great song.
OLD 55
Because sweet Edna, you are a wise girl! Let's face it. Some songs just get under different people's skins. There doesn't have to be a reason. You'll hate me for this, but I find a lot of the Doors, Led Zeppelin, U2, Pink Floyd and The Who (just some off the top of my head) songs bor-ing. I guess I'm just a Pop person. I'd rather listen to a mix of "20 Great Hits" of 60s or 70s. (Or 80s with Walking On Sunshine, Echo Beach and similar breezy songs). P.S. I will concede that Katrina's voice does grate a bit.
OLD 55
So, are Rappers non-singers, too? You nailed it ! They "sample" from the real singers.
phil
Rappers are not singers, they are artists. Oh!wait, their not that either.
