Foxy
Here's something about songs that don't rhyme! "The Song That Didn't Rhyme" ~ Alice Cooper Wrote a song, it was wrong from it`s very first conception Seemed I struggled on every line It wasn`t fast, wasn`t pretty, wasn`t serious or witty The song that didn`t rhyme The band couldn`t wing it, the singer couldn`t sing it The Drummer's always out of time The DJ`s were offended, my union card suspended Billboard declared it a crime The melody blows in a key that no one can find The lyrics don`t flow but I can`t get it out of my mind A three minute waste of your time On a song that didn`t rhyme It was bland, it was boring, all the groupies there were snoring The first time we played it live All the record guys got fired, the president retired But somehow the song survived The melody blows in a key that no one can find The lyrics don`t flow but I can`t get it out of my mind The melody blows in a key that no one can find The lyrics don`t flow but I can`t get it out of my mind A three minute waste of your time No redeeming value of any kind But thanks for the twelve ninety nine On a song that didn`t rhyme
Shawna
That was originally conceived as three different songs, so it counts thrice. For what it's worth. Did he just say thrice? who talks like that?

Shawna
Down Together Refreshments We could write our names here in the mud No one's around to see them We could hang our shoes here in a tree No one's around to steal them I could give you a star You could give me one too And that way we'd be even And I could sing a song way out of tune And not care a bit about it We could both wear cowboy hats And pretend that we could speak Italian I could eat some gum And make my breath so minty fresh To kiss you Your breath will smell like wine I like that a lot Especially when I kiss you And I could hit my funny bone really hard And you could call me a sweetheart And who ever said there's nothing new under the sun Never thought much about individuals But he's dead anyway Let's go down together Down together Let's go down together Down together Down together Let's go down together Down together Down together Yeah, let's go . . . We could all wear ripped up clothes And pretend that we were Dead Hot Workshop I could drive a long long way And not even have the gas to make it back We could chase our shadows around the lawn until we're both exhausted I could forget the words just one more time and hope that no one notices And who ever said there's nothing new under the sun Never thought much about me What's good for you is good for me And what's bad for you is bad for me What's good for you is good for me And what's bad for you is bad for me Cars break down and people break down and other things break down too So lets go down together Down together Down together Together Lets go down together Down together Down together Together we could find a speck of dust and scribble down our life stories

Shawna
Ron - for shame. The Refreshments was Roger's first band before the Peacemakers, which, as any self-respecting SFer will tell you (those who know about my obsession, anyway) is only the best band that ever rocked the earth (in my humble opinion). Actually, "Down Together" and "Banditos" are the only two commercial hits Roger's band(s) has had. That was when the Refreshments were signed to Mercury, who screwed them over big time. So Refreshments broke up and Roger and his drummer, P.H. Naffah, did the duet thing for a while and then formed the Peacemakers, and all of it independently - without the aid of big corporation money - and they put out some AWESOME music. Not really country, not really rock, but as they describe it, "country music played by a rock band." Intelligent and funny lyrics, brilliant musicianship... Their live shows are really something to behold, as well. This is a band that gives 200% every time they play. I've never seen their like. Check them out at azpeacemakers.com If you should decide to purchase one of their CDs, I guarantee you will like it, or your money back. I have yet to meet someone who knows Roger's music who does not like it. Period.
