Michael Vale, the actor best known for his portrayal of a sleepy-eyed Dunkin' Donuts baker who said "Time to make the doughnuts," died on Dec. 24. He was 83. Vale died in New York City of complications from diabetes. Vale's long-running character, "Fred the Baker," for the doughnut maker's ad campaign lasted 15 years until he retired in 1997.

I liked the one commercial where he dressed up as a woman, but still had the moustache, so he covered it up with his index finger.

(in womanly voice with finger on his moustache)"Are your donuts made fresh daily like at Dunkin Donuts?"

(kid at supermarket bakery counter) "No... (gives him a once-over)...ma'am"
