I tried to do this, and I couldn't! This year I thought Franz Ferdinand, U2 and The Darkness were great, that's it.

All my fave tv shows are old ones. Does That 70's Show count? That's the best show.

The worst thing was the race riots in Cronulla, dunno what was the best thing.

Best movie was Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire. Oh, what year did Napoleon Dynamite come out?

See, that's hard for some of us young ones too :D

Who's White Stripes. ???

I'll have to pass Mate. :P

I don't think you should pass, they're actually very good! I think they are my favorite band of recent years. They are part of this big trend called "garage rock revival" which I actually don't really like, because it is creating a ton of garagey, dreary sounding clones of bands. But the White Stripes are very unique, and they rock hard! They sound similar to the Stooges and MC5, but they still have their own very unique sound.

Here are some White Stripes links you should DEFINITELY click:

My review of their 2005 album, "Get Behind Me Satan"

The Amazon page for "Elephant" their 2003 album

Elephant is probably their best album, and the link features 30 second clips of the songs on it. I reccomend you listen to the following on that page:

Seven Nation Army

Black Math

I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself

Ball and Biscuit (the song features possibly the best guitar solos of 2003, which you unfortunately don't get to hear in the 30 second clip)

Little Acorns (a very heavy guitar riff)

Hypnotize (not a great song, but it's kind of a fun song)

If you download, do not hesitate in downloading the full version of Ball and Biscuit, it's fantastic. If you really are interested in them, though, I would not reccomend starting with the album I mentioned in my first post, as it does not define their sound very well. Elephant is their best album, I think. You should see if your local library has it (if they have it, you'd probably have to put it on hold on the internet).

Well, I hope you click those links, especially the second one! You won't be dissapointed!

best surprise? ~ meeting Brad on SF.

worst surprise? ~ Katrina and the aftermath. Unreal.

Guess What ? One of the Music Books I got for Christmas features a section on White Stripes ! They've been around for a few years I see. I also asked my youngest son about them, and he said he agreed with you Batman about " one of White Stripes' albums last year" - he didn't know the name of it.

:)

I'll still have to pass on the "2005 Music", which doesn't mean I don't like what I've heard, but that I just don't know it very well at all.

I haven't bought a current CD in so long I don't feel like I can answer the music questions. I have enjoyed Sugarland and their album "Twice the Speed of Life".

Worst surprise - all the apocalyptic weather.

Best surprise - I don't know. Stop hassling me with all these damned questions.

Best tv show - Lost/Arrested Development/My Name is Earl

Best movie - The 40 Year Old Virgin
