Carl
I've never gotten a definitive explanation of why he's called Slowhand. Any chance this is true?: Eric Clapton is NOT called Slowhand because of his style. Back in the Yardbirds days he was famous for brekaing strings because of his ridiculous bends. When he would go abckstage to change strings the audience would start a slow hand clap until he returned.
Brad_M
Carl, I've also heard that he was nicknamed "slowhand" in 1964 while with the yardbirds but I never heard why. I did find this on the web about it: Eric Clapton Fanclub Magazine
